Smart kid

We had another snow day yesterday! Adam went to the farm so Adalyn and I played all day. Hope came over so we could work on some sewing (hope's part) and monogramming (my part). We had to keep Adalyn occupied b/c she is SO very interested in my embroidery machine so to keep her mind off of things, i put her in her pampers box and drug her around the house. Lets just say after 5 minutes of doing that, I thought I was going to die. I will have to post pictures of our 5-minutes of playtime in the box. She enjoyed it.

In other news, let me get you all up to date on Adalyn. She is really into punching the buttons on the TV. she absolutely know that this is a NO NO but continues to do it anyway. We tell her no, then pop her little hand, and she stops. We have done that a few times and now when we see her reaching for those dreadful buttons, we say NO and she comes running to us with her hands in the air for us to pick her up. haha. It's so cute. She knows she is not suppose to do it. We have also continued working with her on "My Baby Can Read." You know those infomercials you see on TV? Well, we are loving the outcome! Right now, when she sees the word Tiger, she growls, and when she sees the word Hi, she waves. She can also do this with mouth, nose, eyes, clap, and arms up. When she see the word elephant, she puts her hand to her mouth and blows, just like an elephant! Another thing that is just so cute is when we ask her what a rooster says, she proceeds to sing like a rooster. (just imagine the sound!) and when we ask her about a chicken, she says, "bak, bak, bak". She learns something new just about everyday. She is really into blueberries this week. It seems like we can't give her enough. They are also turning her poop black as can be. ha. Hope said she thinks they are high in iron so that would explain all the color change. She is also into saying, "shhhh". She will put her little finger over her mouth and say it all the time. It's in a book we read, "Little Quack's Opposites". The very last page the duck is asleep and another duck as his finger over his mouth so that is where she picked that up from. She will lay her baby doll down on a blanket and say, "shh". It's so neat to watch her play by herself. She is also saying "ssssss" for yes and "sssss" for Singer, my parents dog. She goes for her 15 month appointment in February so Im curious to see how much she has grown. She is still is size 4 diapers and is able to wear some of her size 5 shoes. She is slowly growing out of all 12 month outfits, and is in 12-18 mo. or just 18 month. Hopefully I didn't bore any of you with all this. I have no room to document things like this in her baby book so that leaves me my blog to tell the whole world what our Adalyn is getting in to. =)

14 months and so grown up

Just look at this sweet girl. She is 14 months old now and seems like she is growing up everyday. We looked through some pictures of Adalyn the other night when she was a tiny baby and she has changed so much. I absolutely LOVE her personality. She makes us laugh all the time. She will even throw her head back and cover her mouth with her hand and belly laugh. She is getting even smarter, too. I'll ask her if she needs a new diaper and she will walk right into her room and point at the drawer we keep them in. She will throw things in the trash for us when we ask her to. She sticks out her tonge when we ask her where her mouth is located. She knows where her eyes, ears, nose, head, and toes are, too. When we ask where her hair is, she will rub her head. When we ask where her head is, she will pat her head. She is just a ball of energy and never slows down until she is ready for a nap. She is an excellent sleeper. Now several months ago if you asked me if she was a great sleeper, my answer would have been totally different! ha. She is in her bed no later than 7:30 everynight. Thankfully, she is the type where we can just lay her down wide awake and she will go to sleep by herself. We have never had to rock her. I also came up with the bright idea of putting a book at the end of her crib so when she wakes up in the morning, she will "read" and let momma and daddy sleep longer. =) She is up anywhere from 6-7. We can hear her over the monoitor babbling away at her books. She is usually content until we come and get her which is great.

She has brought us so much JOY in our lives. She is truly a blessing and amazes us each day.

Snow!

We have snow! and lots of it! Adam and I stay up late now b/c that's the only time I have to do my embroidering. Adalyn is wayy too interested in what I am doing so I do it when she goes to sleep. Thank goodness she is in bed by 7:30. So Monday night we were able to watch the snow as it started coming in. Within 30 minutes the ground was covered outside. I seriously doubt Adam will be going back to school this week. Lucky. We closed work at 10:15 (yay!) yesterday so I was able to spend the day with Adam and Adalyn. When I got home Adalyn was taking her morning nap so I crawled into my bed and napped for an hour which was nice! (just not long enough) We then ate lunch and she played with Adam and I started sewing. We have to block off the dining room b/c that is where I keep my machine and she cant stand when we do that! She just kept saying, "Mama, Mama, Mama". Once I was done with a shirt, we bundled up and went outside. We had so much fun! Even Adalyn. The snow was so thick and pretty. I almost hated walking on it.
Adam plopped Adalyn down and she did not move for about 5 minutes. She just watched us play in the snow. I guess she thought she couldn't walk in it.
Once she realized she was not nailed to the ground, she then decided she would walk around and see what all this snow was about.

just look at this sweet face!

Spaghetti!

Every parent must give their 1 year old spaghetti.

Since Adalyn has a clean freak for a mom, we kept it as clean as possible. =) She sure did enjoy that spaghetti!

C-h-e-e-s-e-

It has officially gotten to the point where Adam and I have to spell certain words around Adalyn. She is definitely like me, she LOVES cheese! Anytime we say cheese, even if we say Cheez-it or grilled cheese, she goes crazy! She starts saying "please" and whinning for us to pick her up and give her cheese! ha. It is so funny. I knew one day we would have to spell around her, esp. n-a-p, but I had no idea it would be this soon. We also have to spell p-a-c-i. Anytime we say these words she gets so excited and starts clapping her hands and squealing.

She is almost 14 months old now and she is SO smart. She can sign socks, shoes, giraffe, book, more, please, dog, all done, diaper, hat, train, cat, and tree (or her version of tree, its pretty hard!) There may be more but I can't think of them right now. It seems like she is eating all the time. She is starting to like our food, too. She likes to eat half of a grilled cheese, she loves when we make peanut butter crackers, and every morning she helps me and Adam eat our peanut butter toast. Rice Krispy's are one of her favorites, too. ha. Very nutricious, huh?

When christopher and brandy came to visit they of course had Herc with them. If you don't know Herc, he is a HUGE Great Dane. He is so precious and sweet and Adalyn just loves him!

The other night Adalyn and I were bouncing on our bed and I decided to ask her Where is Herc? I honestly did not think she would have a clue what I was asking her. I didnt think she would have remembered his name. Well, as soon as I said that, she did her ever so famous surprised face and she lifted her arms up like, Where is he? Then I asked, who is Herc? She immediately started signing dog and scooted off the bed and went into the living room straight to the window looking for Herc. It was the sweetest thing.

Just like dad!

How cute is this?

Christmas!

Little late in blogging, but here is the wrap on our Christmas!

Christmas Eve morning we headed over to granna and granddaddy's for a big breakfast and a lot of relaxing! We played alot and watched Elf then that afternoon Christopher and Brandy came over and we hung out, ate chili, slept, and opened presents. It is always so great to see them since they live so far away. I am MORE than ready for them to be back home. After that, we all got dressed and went to our church Candlelight Christmas Eve service. The church was full by the time we got there so we sat it the very back which was great. The pew is alot bigger so that gave Adalyn some space to move around. She got in all of our purses and played with anything she could get her hands on. While the singing was going on she was quiet, but when the talking started, she wanted to talk too! So out to the hallway we went. She was able to play with her friend Sarah Beth though so it worked out just fine.
Here is our tree

After the service at church we headed home. Adalyn was fast asleep by 7:30. I made cookies and Adam and I watched Home Alone.

Christmas morning- Santa brought a bouncing turtle for Adalyn!
Oh, and when we woke up, we saw SNOW! Snow, on Christmas?! Since when does that happen? Thank you Lord for the beautiful snow!
We then quickly got ready and headed to Memaw and Papaw's for a delicious breakfast! We opened presents, played with Tori and Hunter, and Adalyn slept for about 2 hours.

Around 1, we headed to Hillsboro for Christmas with my family.

We ate, opened presents, and watched The Christmas Story all day long.
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!
