Our future Farmer(s)

I should have blogged about this right after it happened. But I didn't and now I can't seem to remember when this actually was. Hum, it was the weekend before we left for Gatlinburg so it was Saturday, February 9. Shew. I don't know why I do that to myself. If I would just blog when I'm suppose to I wouldn't have to think so hard. Anyway, It was such a nice and semi-warm day. Adam and the kids took off to the Farm that morning. I stayed home to sew then headed to my Granddaddy's right at lunch time. Visited with him for a bit then I headed to Pelham myself. I got there around 2:30 or so and Landon had just woke up from his nap. I could see him and Nancy walking across the field to the garden as I pulled in. Jerry, Adam and Adalyn were in the garden cleaning it up and I see Adalyn splashing in water puddles. I started helping them pull up tomato cages and Adalyn grabbed a ho and got to work. She LOVES being outside with Adam helping him farm. I have a very strong feeling this girl will be a girly girl and dress up but then again she will be able to put on a pair of overalls and check cows with her dad and get muddy all at the same time. That's my kind of girl. ;)So for the rest of the afternoon we played in the garden, played in water puddles, rode the 4-wheeler and the Bob Cat. I am so ready for Spring to get here. I'm over the cold weather!

Here is our future farmer hard at work.
Magazine worthy, isn't it?

She was having so much fun

Landon signing "more" because he wanted to ride the 4-wheeler again

He will be our next farmer, too. :)

Adam helping Adalyn

Riding the Bob Cat. This is Landon's favorite. He has a Bulldozer book and it shows a picture of a bob cat. He just points and grunts at it every time we look through it. He is trying to say Bob Cat. Right now, it sounds like, "Ba Cat" Very close!

And here is Adalyn pouting that Landon was on the 4-wheeler with Adam and she wasn't with them. ha. So typical for a 3 year old!

"More"

Landon is saying a new word everyday now. Or so it seems. He has added to his vocabulary "Bubba" "Beep Beep" "Ball" "Hot" and "No". We asked him to say "thank you" the other night instead of signing it, and he said something very very close to thank you, but it wasn't very clear. Something to the effect of "ank ew". His little hairs keep growing and growing and he looks so much like a big boy (and his daddy) since we comb his hair off to the side. Adam specifically asked me to blog about what I'm about to type so he could always remember it. Sweet, huh? So I'll tell you first about the kids bedtime routine. I love schedules. (and being organized but that has nothing to do with what I'm about to say. Just had to throw it out there) Once Landon got out of his "newborn sleeping all day stage", it was mandatory for me to get them on a schedule. For my sake and really, for them as well. So, Landon takes a morning nap at 8 for about an hour and they both take an afternoon nap at 1:00 which lasts anywhere from 1.5-2.5 hours. (about 45 minutes if he's teething bad. Darn teeth! But he's past the "bad" teething stage now since he just has a few more to go. So if he's not teething and just doesn't feel good, he might not nap as long. But once I get him, he will fall back asleep in my arms. Imagine that. :)So anyway, once Adam and I are home from work, we take the kids outside if it's not absolutely freezing or raining, come in and cook dinner, play, read books, break up the kids fighting over Adalyn's crayons or Landon getting mad that Adalyn took his book away from him, (it's quite entertaining at times... If I'm in a good mood, but if I'm moody, it's just plain annoying) and it still shocks me that they are already doing this so young! Adalyn is at the stage where she MUST help cook dinner. Which I love the fact that she is so interested and when she actually listens to my instructions and isn't making a mess with the flour, sugar, etc... What's the saying, "Too many cooks in the kitchen?" ;) She loves to set the table which I pray she continues with her good attitude about doing so well up into her teenage years. HA. I know better than that. I was a teenager once! Ok, I'm getting sidetracked big time. Anyway, we eat, clean, give baths, put pj's on and watch either an episode of Handy Manny, Doc McStuffins, or Tad and Lily, a Leap Frog movie. We eat a snack, the kids drink their cup of milk, brush teeth, then Adam puts Landon to bed and I put Adalyn to bed. We have always done that. Always. So they both know exactly what to expect and most of the time, there isn't too much whining from Adalyn (for one reason or another. you know how kids are!). Oh but when she does, UGH! Adalyn and I sit in the recliner and I read 3 books to her, then I sing a few songs, and then I take her to her bed. Per her instructions, I have to sing to her once I lay her down, too. And it has to be 4 songs. She cracks me up. So, that is Adalyn's bedtime routine. She's in bed by 8:00. Adam does the same thing with Landon. He sits in his recliner in Landon's bedroom, reads 3 or so books, and then sings to him. Adam told me the other night that Landon now will sign "more" and look right up at him after his books are over with for Adam to sing. Adam said he basically has just laid the book down and hasn't even turned him into him and he's automatically waiting on him to start singing. He says he can see his little hands in the dark sign "more" before he finishes a song. Adam lays him down while he is still drowsy around 7:45. He has told me every night for a week how sweet it is and how much he loves Landon doing that. Like I said, he asked me to blog about it so we can remember it. I blog #1 because their baby books are full, and #2, like Adam said, so we can remember every milestone, funny saying, vacations, birthdays, holidays, etc. I really enjoy going back to read old blog posts about Adalyn when she was a baby. So I'm glad I have kept my blog up because I know one day when the kids are older, this will be such a treasure to us!

Snow!!

Friday morning I got up at my normal time and remembered it was "suppose" to snow. Since Adam and I both work for the school system, I wanted to see if it had actually snowed and if we were closed. I don't even have to turn on our TV. Just click on Facebook and bam, like 20 postings of "Coffee County Schools are Closed". I told Adam and then I decided to go ahead and take a shower. Just so you know, I truly believe Adam gets more excited about being out of school than the kids do. After my shower, I walked into the living room and to my surprise, I saw a dusting of snow on the ground. I got excited because I KNEW the kids would LOVE to "play" in it. Adalyn woke up at 7 and as soon as she saw the snow, her eyes got huge and she started jumping up and down. I knew we needed to get out in it as early as possible because when it snows around here, it's gone by noon. We kept waiting AND waiting on Landon to wake up. That little stinker slept until 7:45. He goes to bed between 7:45-8:00 and is up around 6:15-6:30, so 7:45 was definitely a nice surprise! Once he was up, we all bundled up and headed outside. The kids just laughed and giggled pretty much the entire time. It was such a sweet, sweet sound. After playing for a while, Adam went ahead and took Landon inside while Adalyn and I stayed outside to play. This was also a neat snow for us since it was technically Landon's "1st Snow!" (I don't remember us getting any last year!?)

Don't you know it's SO much fun to jump in the snow?!

AND you know it's much more fun to slide and swing in the snow, too!

Adalyn's snow angel

After we played in the snow for a while, Adalyn and Adam headed to the farm while Landon and I hung out all day. Adalyn stayed the night and Jerry brought her back around 10 Saturday morning. Much to my surprise, it had snowed AGAIN! People, this simply does not happen in our area. Even if it's an inch, everyone gets excited just because we don't see it a lot. Landon left with Jerry so that left just Adalyn and I and we played, and played, AND played in the snow for the longest time. I seriously had so much fun and it just remind how blessed I am to have such a fun, loving, energetic, daughter. I didn't have a camera with me on that day, Adam took it to the farm so I snapped some pictures from my cell.

We even made a tiny snowman!
Here she is swinging and sliding---take a look at the snow in mid air as she comes down the slide. I was impressed that my phone captured that!

It was nice to see the snow, but now, I am SO ready for Spring!!! Now that it's February, I am counting down until we are on the BEACH!!!!! 4.5 months to go! Wahoo!!

Martin Luther King Weekend

(Ok, so I have had this blog written since January 23 and I'm just NOW posting it. Sorry guys!)

What a beautiful weekend we had! It was so refreshing to finally see sunshine and feel the warmer tempertures! We made it count and spent time outdoors as much as we could. It was even better knowing we had a three day weekend! Our weekend started off with our annual Christmas in January with the Clark's. Adam's family is so large that it just makes things so much easier to do our Christmas Martin Luther King weekend. Christmas time is always SO very busy and hectic, (especially if you have little ones!)and for the almost 11 years I have been around this family, it has always been in January and I will forever be grateful for that. We always have a good time together and the kids go full throtle from the time we walk in the door until we leave that night. We eat lots of junk, which is my favorite, and open presents, play with the kids, and eat some more. By the end of the day we are all seriously just exhausted. Adalyn stayed with Jerry and Nancy Saturday night since Tori, Hunter, Dave, Sherrie and Kenny were there too. I'm sure she didn't want to miss out on anything! Adam and I left Landon with Tommy and Sarah and we made our way to town to attend a visitation of an old friend for a little bit. Once we were home, Sarah and Tommy came soon after with a very tired Landon. He slept on the way home from Pelham, woke up just to drink his milk, changed his clothes, and we layed him down. We stayed up late talking then went to bed ourselves. The next morning, they took Landon back to Pelham for us while Adam and I went to church and then to a funeral that afternoon. Have you had the opportunity to get ready for Church by YOURSELF? As in, no kids running around, only had to feed yourself breakfast, didn't have to pick out clothes, do hair, find shoes, pack bags with sippy cups and snacks, etc? Well, we did. We got ourselves ready and sat our butts down and watched HGTV. Our favorite thing to do. We don't really get to watch it much since Disney Jr. seems to be the number 1 show on our TV nowadays. As nice as it was to have a calm and stress free morning before Church, we quickly started to miss them! Sunday was jam packed for Adam and I and by 4:00, we were finally on the road to Pelham to pick them up. I was SO ready to see them. It's amazing how that works. There are days where you can't wait for someone to get them for a bit, but give it just a few hours, and you are MORE than ready for them to come back. We spent the rest of the evening there and were home by 7:00. Again, super tired and ready for bed! Kids were asleep around 7:45 and Adam and I stayed up and watched TV. It was so nice knowing we didn't have to go to work the next day! Adalyn graciously slept in until 7 Monday morning (very late for her!) and Landon woke up at 6:30. During the work week I get up at 5:30 to get myself ready before the kids start waking up, so sleeping until 6:30 is late for me! It was nice. We headed to McMinnville since I needed some sewng supplies and made a pit stop at Tractor Supply (imagine that) for Adam. While there, we also got Landon some rain boots and Adalyn bought gummies with her own money. (Thanks Aunt Sherrie!) Anyway, with all that said, we really did have a nice, fun, busy weekend!

These next few pictures I'm posting having nothing to do with this post. I had them on my cell phone and wanted to share!

Landon is looking more and more like a "little boy" instead of a baby. He was walking so fast in this picture I was barely able to capture him but just LOOK! Walking into his class at Church last Wednesday night with his back pack. I couldn't stop smiling!

See this mess?

I was sewing one day and Adalyn pulled out my fabric and made "houses". Anything to keep her quiet and occupied while I sew!

We have been in our house for almost 2 years and have decorated every single room except one. (well, technically 2. We haven't done our master bath but hope to this Spring) The kids play room has been rearranged countless times and after Christmas, we decided to take the futon out. Now we have a lot more space! We got rid of a bunch of toys and finally rearranged it to how we like it. My mom and I have been talking for a while on what to do in their room. Well, ladies and gentlemen, we finally have done our first decorative piece. It's on the largest wall in the room but we still have plans to put things on either side of the saying. (and on the other walls) This was just our first step and I love the way it turned out. I took this picture as soon as Adam was finished with it so ignore some of the mess you see!
I have in my mind what we will do with the other walls so I'll keep everyone in the loop once we have it complete!
