Carving pumpkins

Sunday afternoon we carved our pumpkins! We had quite a few to carve and the kids were so excited to help. In reality they were more excited about the knives and carving tools we had to use. That makes carving pumpkins with a 3 and 4 year old a little stressful at times. ha! I just knew a finger would be chopped off at some point during all of this but I'm happy to say, we all made it through alive! In actuality, Adam and I carve all the pumpkins while the kids run around and play. They help for a bit but once they (more like Landon) realize they won't get to use a knife, they are over it. They weren't too keen on scraping out all the pumpkin guts either. ha! Maybe they will like it better next year. ;)

notice the rain boot on the wrong foot?
;)

(You can see Adalyn in the background sorting her change. hahaha
Who cares that we have pumpkins, she's concerned about getting her money in order!
Just like her momma lol)

See his tongue? lol You can tell he wasn't too sure of it!

Adam explaining to Adalyn that he was going to put potting soil in one of our pumpkins and plant some flowers in it.
And that was all his idea- he didn't even resort to Pinterest!

See the tiny pumpkin carving tool in his hand? They enjoyed poking holes all throughout the pumpkins with it. haha

Adam then brought out his drill and Landon was all over helping in that way. They put small holes in one and larger holes in another pumpkin.

The finished product!
I asked Landon if he wanted his pumpkin to have circle or triangular eyes and he chose circle.
I kind of like the look!

It was such a WARM October afternoon- great day to carve our pumpkins!

Field Trip to Granddaddy's Farm

Thursday was Adalyn's field trip to Granddaddy's Farm. She woke up that morning without having to be told a million times(ha!) because she was so excited. It was such a beautiful day and all of the kids had so much fun! I was so glad I was able to be there with her to watch her play with all of her little friends. It's kind of hard to believe that next year she will be in Kindergarten going on field trips with a new class!

All of the kids ran non stop until lunch, which was around 11:15 or so. Adalyn didn't take a break and went full throttle the entire time! I was tired trying to keep up with her. I loved watching her interact with her friends. I would like to be a fly on her classroom wall just so I can secretly watch her during the day.

Notice her socks? Who knew they make mismatched socks on purpose these days. ha!

We all ate lunch and then grabbed two pumpkins and headed back to Manchester. Nancy met me at the office to pick Adalyn up for me and to take her back home. Exhausted is the word I would use to describe Adalyn after her field trip.
She had so much fun!

The kids go to the movies

I am really late in blogging about this but it's definitely worthy of it's own post since this was Landon's very first time to go to a movie theatre! Back in September, Adam and I went to Atlanta and Adam's parents and my parents had the kids for the weekend. Jerry and Nancy have taken the kids to the drive in theatre before, but this was his first time in an actual theatre. I told my mom good luck (ha!!) and to have fun!

They went to see Dolphin Tale 2. My parents have Dolphin Tale at their house and they have watched it numerous times so they were very excited to see the new one.

They brought in snacks and my mom said the kids were set!

Here is a look into her purse...
nothing but candy! ha! Just what Landon likes lol

Here he is showing Granna his "lollipops".

Mom said the kids did so well and really enjoyed the movie! From what I gathered, Landon ate candy and popcorn throughout the entire movie without missing a beat. He is definitely my junk food lover! Just like his Granddaddy! hahaha!

Pumpkin Patch 2014

After the kids woke up from their naps on Saturday, we got ready for our annual trip to Cedarwood Pumpkin Patch! I look forward to going every year and the kids always have so much fun.

It was a cool, windy afternoon which caught me off guard because it was so warm and sunny earlier in the day.
But, it was Fall weather nonetheless so we embraced it!
We arrived around 4:15 and Landon spotted Elmo as soon as we pulled into the parking lot.
He kept telling us he saw Elmo and once we paid and walked in, sure enough, there he was! He ran straight over to him and started talking to him.

Checking out the animals

We hit up the corn bed next. They added a slide to it this year which was a big hit!

I can't believe these two are getting so big on us!

Landon loved coming across these scarecrows as we walked around. He would run straight up to them and immediately say, "Cheeeese!"

Of course he hopped on every tractor he saw, too. :)
(and just a quick look back at him last year on a tractor. Baby boy is growing up on me!)

Next up, goats!

Same place, same fence, just a bigger Adalyn :)

They stopped to play in the sand pit before we continued on our way.

They love going into this play house and asking, "Can I take your order?"
So cute!

These slides are so fun and so fast! The kids laugh the entire time they are slidding down.

Adalyn loved climbing to the top of these huge tires

Adalyn was the photographer on these two pictures :)

Climbing hay bales

After the hay bales, they hopped on the "train"!
This is a favorite for them every year.

After all of the playing we did, we were finally ready to get on the hay ride to go to the pumpkin patch!

Pumpkins everywhere! So many decisions. Landon wanted to touch every single one of them. He couldn't keep up with us because he was bending over examining every pumpkin he passed. :)

We had a surprise for both kids once the hayride was over. We were meeting up with Chloe and Judson and they had no idea. They were both so excited! We spent the rest of the night with friends and we all had so much fun!
These two girls are such sweet, sweet friends.

All of the kids had a blast playing with each other!

Tim and Adam raced- it was so funny to see!

These kids played and played for hours! They didn't slow down one bit. After all the playing, we went to a camp fire and made smores and ate hot dogs and chips. We listened to music and checked out the animals in the barn. I think it was a little after 9:00 when we finally left! We had such a fun time, I can't wait to do it again next year!

The kids fell fast asleep within 5 minutes of being in the car. But, we all smelled sooo bad of smoke I couldn't just put them straight to bed when we got home. So, we gave them a quick bath and then put them right to bed. They were so wiped out! Adam and I finally got into bed sometime after 10. It was a long afternoon/night, but we had such a great time!
