We entered Adalyn into the baby show at the fair this year. She looked beautiful (of course) and did a wonderful job despite the 100 degree weather we experienced! Could not have been happier! Thanks everyone who came to watch her!

Better late than never! New quote to live by. =)Yes, I can clearly see I have been slacking in the blogging department. Please forgive me! Work has been busy and when I find time to do it, I just don't feel like it. ha. So, I am MAKING myself blog while dinner is in the oven!
Adalyn celebrated her 10 month birthday on September 13.
You can see she was quite excited when we explained she was 10 months old. What a beauty!

Car Seat
We bought Adalyn a big girl car seat yesterday at Babies R Us. It was bitter sweet. We have had a lot of memories in her infant car seat. Maybe I get attached to "things" too easily but when you think about it, it's the seat that helped keep our baby safe while driving, it's the seat that would put her to sleep,(sometimes) it's the seat where she liked to look up at the bar and hit her frogs eyes and they would light up and sing back to her, and it's the seat that she LOVED climbing all over when we had it in the living room.
Just wanted to share these pictures!
1st time in the car seat
and what she looks like now in the car seat
She was just getting TOO heavy for that car seat. We ended up just taking her out of it where ever we went unless she was sleeping then I would carry that thing inside and it would just about wear me out. So, as sad as it is, the car seat and the 2 bases have been boxed up and stored in the attic.
Check Adalyn out in her new car seat
She is loving it! It is still turned backwards only because I'm anal about safety for her. It suggests to face backwards until she is one AND 20 lbs. Well, she has the 20 lbs down, just not the age yet. I'm sure she would be just fine facing forward and who knows, when she's 11 months we might decide to flip her around but for right now, she's content and we are content with the decision. =) We bought 2 so we wouldn't have to fool with transferring it back and forth between our vehicles. It's a good thing we got 2 because when I pulled it out of the box it was HEAVY! You better believe I was not going to be changing that sucker out all the time. We had 2 bases for her infant car seat and that made things just so simple!

Oh Happy Day!
Adalyn took 3 steps in a row today! For the past 2 weeks or so, she has been taking 1 step at a time. She has great balance as she would stand and then take one step, stop, then decide she better sit down. We have been watching her like crazy these past few days because everytime she takes her normal one step, it looks like she could just take off at any second. When Adam or I walk with her by holding her hands, she is basically pulling us in a hurry instead of us leading her like we use to. She will be 10 months old this coming Monday. Getting so big!
On another note, let me update everyone on what else sweet Miss May is doing lately. As you can see, I have not blogged in a while. By the time I get home from work, we play, play, play, then bathtime, supper, then bed. After all that, I'm pooped. Sometimes I blog from work but we have been pretty busy lately. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
First of all, Adalyn is a HOOT! She cracks us up all the time. She has such a little personality! and a little bit of an attitude when she doesn't get her way. I admit, she definitely got that from ME. Now that I have confessed that to the public world, I'll move on with my blog.
She has been clapping for a while now and anytime we ask her to do it, she will break out clapping and laughing. Also, (thanks to Aunt Erin for pointing this out) she claps with her left hand over her right hand. Have you ever thought about how you clap? It had never occured to me. But, I'm right handed so I obviously clap right over left. Adam and I have noticed everything she does is with her left hand. She eats left handed and picks up her toys left handed and as I said, claps left over right. Soo, it looks like we have a lefty on our hands!
She also loves to pass out big, opened mouth, wet kisses! Those kisses are the best. I'll say, "give mommy a kiss" and she will lean in mouth wide open and give me a kiss smack dab on the lips. It's so sweet.
The most recent accomplishment is asking her where the light is. She immediately looks straight up at the light and points. When we are in the dining room, not only will she point at the light, she will then turn around and point at the light switch! She can also flip the switch on and off with her itty bitty index finger! (I love watching her brain work so hard to figure something out) Smart, huh? She definitely got her smarts from her dad.
She has 6 teeth and we believe working on her 7th. We can just tell when she is cutting a tooth. Oh, and one more thing. She tries to say, "Mooo" when we talk about cows or go out in the pasture to look at them. She mimicks their sound after they do it.
Here are a few recent pictures of our beautiful baby girl!

You might be a Redneck if...
you use a towel for a diaper!
Soo, how smart are we as parents to NOT take a diaper bag with us when we go somewhere? What's so bad, I even asked Adam, " We don't need to bring her diaper bag do we?" He said nah, so off we went to Wal-Mart to buy groceries. In my head I'm thinking, she has just peed and pooped, we will be at Wal-Mart for 30 minutes, she will be just fine! When we were finished, we decided to run to my parents so I could cut Adam's hair. I immediately think, uh oh. no diaper bag. I feel her, of course she has peed AGAIN but I think, eh, she'll be ok. On the way there we hear her start grunting. That's her sound for pooping. Sure enough, when we got there, she had a HUGE poopy diaper! hahaha. We were able to find wipes there but no diaper! All we could do was laugh. In order to come home, we fixed up a "cloth" diaper. Creative, huh? ;)
