Sweet Adalyn was just 6 weeks old during Christmas last year. She slept thru most of it so I am really excited to see the excitement on her face while she plays with the wrapping paper, tissue, and bags, oh, and maybe a few toys. ;)
Merry Christmas! Hold your little ones... they don't stay little for long!

Bath Time
This kid LOVES taking a bath. We will ask her where the bathtub is and she will walk straight to it. This particular night she was hamming it up for Adam and I. Such a personality I tell you! We laugh at her all the time!
Aside from being a ham, it seems as though she is leaning something new everyday. This past week she has put 2 signs together and now signs "more please" when she wants something. Sometimes she skips the "more" and says "please" over and over. It is so neat to watch her. She is also signing giraffe, monkey, and hat. We have been practicing/singing "head, shoulders, knees and toes" as well. She does her head and toes, but skips shoulders and knees. We still have to work on that some more. Other than that, she is doing something new just about every single day. Her appetite is really changing. She is wanting to eat all day long. We are constantly trying to come up with big, healthy snacks for her. Growing, growing girl!

Pink Eye
Thursday, December 9 we headed to North Coffee to see Santa! Memaw teaches there so it was nice to see her and the other teachers. They were reading Christmas stories to the children, doing arts and crafts, and having their picture made with Santa. Adalyn could have cared less about the reading portion of the evening. She was however on her best behavior though. All she wanted to do was eat her grapes and crackers and sign "baby" at every baby we saw. We finally took her into the hallway so she could have more room to roam around. After roaming for a little while, Santa finally came. As soon as we put her on his lap she started crying. All I could do was laugh! You always see pictures of these kids screaming with Santa and I figured she would do the same thing! ha. Maybe next year!
While at North Coffee we noticed her eye was somewhat pink and lazy looking. When she woke up the next morning it was pretty eveident what she had. Pink eye. It was puffy and pink. We called the doctor and he wanted to see her. Adam was working that day and luckily I was off. He loaded up and headed to Murfreesboro. First, making a pit stop at Hobby Lobby. After that, we went to the doctor and of course, she cried as soon as he walked in the door. He had barely looked at her. ha. Thankfully we weren't there too long. He prescribed some eye drops and home we went. Those drops worked within 24 hours, but on Sunday morning, it was in her other eye. No church for her. Adam stayed home with her and let me go to Church.
It took a week, but I finally got it this past Friday. Thankfully we still had some of her drops left. It was gone within 24 hours. Thank goodness. Now I'm just waiting on Adam to get it.

Looks like I slacked off on blogging again. Oops. I hate when I do that! SO much goes on and if I don't blog about it, I will forget about it! So, I am going to do a quick re-cap on whats been going on with the Clark's.
Let's see, it's been a few weeks but Adalyn was sick for 3 days with a fever. It was pitiful! She had no side effects, just a really high fever. After a 2 day fever and after we couldn't get it under 102, we took her to the doctor. He checked her out and said it was probably virul with no side effects. No runny nose, cough, etc. He did say not to be alarmed if she were to break out in a rash. He said when that happens, her fever is breaking. Boy was I glad to see a rash on her. All she wanted to do was sleep. I happened to be off on that Thursday and she slept SIX hours during the day! and then slept the rest of the night. I was so glad to have our happy, energetic Adalyn back.
See how pitiful?
A few days after that we headed back to the doctor for her 1 year check up. It was so much easier going to the doctor for her check-ups when she was much more of a baby. She would just lay there or sleep the entire time. Now, as soon as Dr. Eastham walks into the room, she immediately high tails it to either Adam or myself. She hates when he even looks at her. She frowns and lays her head right on my chest. She weighed 23 lbs-80th percentile and is in the 97th percentile for her height. See, I can't even remember how long she was! This just proves a point that I should blog immediately after an event. It is obviously written in her baby book, but off the top of my head, I cannot remember. 30.5? Eh, i give up. After that, she fell asleep in the car so Adam and I took advantage of piece and quite and headed to Sonic for a greasy, fattening snack. Cheese fries and cheese sticks.

thankful.
A little late in posting about our Thanksgiving festivities, but I must do it anyway. Thanksgiving weekend was so busy! We spent Thanksgiving day at my grandparents house. We ate, took lots of pictures, and put up my grandparents HUGE Christmas tree that takes a few hours to complete. It was such a nice, relaxing day!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We all have so much to be thankful for.

The end.
December 1, 2010 is officially the first day I have not nursed Adalyn. If we do the math, that's 382 days I went breastfeeding her. 382! Gee whiz! I must say, I am pretty proud of myself for sticking with it. For those moms out there who have breastfed, you know how difficult it is in the beginning! I had a personal goal set for myself and I was determined to not give her an ounce of formula. Nothing wrong with it, it was just something I chose to do. To each their own, right? Adam was so great the first few weeks of trying to figure everything out. I definitely can see how easy it would have been to just give her a bottle during all those night feedings. I would have been able to sleep longer while Adam gave her a bottle, but I chose to do it so it was me up with her for every single feeding. Looking back, those sleepness nights were so sweet. I loved the fact that I was the one she depended on. I am very thankful that I was able to met my goal of nursing for her first year of life. I kind of cringe thinking about nursing/pumping with our next baby for another full year. Ah! haha. Lets just say I am glad I am DONE!
