Baby Dedication

We dedicated Landon at Church today. As parents, one of our prayers is to raise our children in Church and in a Godly home, teach them about Jesus, and most importantly we pray that Adalyn and Landon will ask Jesus in their hearts one day and be saved.
Landon was in such a good mood. He practically squealed the entire time we were in front of the congregation.
See his mouth open? He was talking to everybody. My granddaddy came, as well as Adams parents and niece and nephew, Tori and Hunter. Gina, Hope and Liam were there, too. :)
Afterwards we went to Captain D's to eat then put the kids to bed when we got home. Once everybody woke up, we played outside. Adam took Adalyn to buy groceries and I cooked dinner and cleaned up a little while Landon chewed on the remote control. It was such a special day for our family!

pulling up

I have been helping Landon pull up on furniture lately and tonight I caught him trying to do it himself.
I looked back in Adalyn's baby book and by Landon's age (7 months) she was already crawling and pulling up. So even though I shouldn't do this, Im secretly wanting/hoping he will do the same things she did at around the same age! Dumb, I know. Anyway, so hopefully soon he will have it down! We tried peas tonight. He hated them. His whole body shook. That's the only baby food we don't make. Its way too complicated and time consuming to do so. We ended up mixing some with carrots and he ate them right up. Maybe after a few days he will learn to like them. We are doing squash next. As I mentioned, he still isn't crawling but he is oh so close. I can just tell. He goes from the sitting position down to his stomach, and kicks his legs and arms so hard he spins in a circle until I pick him up. Bath time is becoming interesting because he reaches over so far to grab a duck or his cup, I'm afraid he is going to face plant soon. Anyway, here is my clean boy after his bath!

Worms

I did not have to change 1 single diaper today! Can you believe it?! Oh wait, I should rephrase that. I didn't have to change any diapers for Adalyn. She stayed dry all day long! I put a diaper on her when she napped but she woke up dry and then when she went outside to help Adam mow, we put another on.
Other than that, she wore Minnie Mouse and Daisy duck panties all day. She normally gets M&M's every time she goes, but the past few days she has just about been going every single time. I was running low on M&M's so I switched to a pack of 100 Calorie cookies. I give her 4 each time. We bought groceries after Church last night and came across her favorite gummies of all time. Jerry always stops at a gas station and buys her these fruit gummies. Kellogs is the brand and she prefers these over regular gummy bears. Which is fine since these are more "healthier". Anyway, we found a big box of them so I figured this would be another way to sucker her in to using her potty all day. It worked. I need to back up though... After naps yesterday afternoon we headed over to my parents for dinner before Church. They went to Washington D.C. and NYC for a week so Adalyn was more than ready to go and see them. Adalyn stayed the night and we went on to Church. Fast forward to this morning, Adalyn calls to talk to me and I told her I had a surprise for her when she gets home AND if she uses the potty. She immediately says "M&M's? Cookies?" I said nope, keep guessing. Without hesitation, she squealed, "Gummies! I come home now!" So not too much longer after our phone conversation, my mom pulls up in our driveway. Usually its a fight to get her to leave my parents house or Adam's parents house but mom told me she kept saying, "Bye granna. It's ok. I'll come back." So ever since she got home this morning, she has been a peeing machine. So, where Im going with this and the reason I titled this blog, "Worms"... I was rocking her tonight and she informs me she needs to go poo poo. I look at her and said, "no you don't. Are you telling a story?" ha. She told me no so off we went to the bathroom. she starts doing her business and by this time Adam and Landon come to sit in hallway with me. Adalyn gets real excited after each "one" goes into Elmo so tonight she said, "Daddy! Come look at my worms!" I made the mistake of telling her one day that they looked like worms. She got a kick out of it and it seriously took me by surprise when she said that tonight. It was hilarious. I have learned there is never a dull moment with her when it comes to potty training. She is either trying to "catch" her pee (as I blogged about before) or wake up in the middle of the night and take her diaper off to pee in her bed so she won't pee in her diaper... She keeps things entertaining that's for sure.

Potty Training

Who knew potty training would be such a LONG process?! Adalyn peed in the potty for the very first time last April when she was 17 months old. She did it twice, which was probably by pure accident, but nonetheless, she did it. After she did it for thevery first time, it wasnt until months later she became interested in it again. Since about November, she has really done a great job. The past few months she consistently uses the potty atleast twice a day, if not more. BUT, the past 3 days, she has peed and pooped in the potty all day long! I have barely had to change her diaper which means we keep putting the same dry diaper back on each time. (which is wonderful!) I end up finally throwing it away b/c it becomes so dingy. She woke up Wednesday morning with a dry diaper (she has done that 1 other time) and has woken up from 2 naps with a dry diaper. I have panties on her most of the morning until we head outside to play then Ill put a diaper back on her. She gets M&M's everytime she goes, but she has gone so much I am now giving out cookies and popcicles. Our M&M bag is almost empty! I hope this is the start of serious potty training where she doesn't decide to back track. As happy as I am that she is using the potty, she always decides to poop when I sit down to nurse Landon. Really Adalyn? Couldn't you have done that during the 3 hour span I have when I don't have to feed your brother? At one point today she thought she needed to go so we run to the bathroom, she sits (and sits...) and then informs me that "She will try tomorrow". haha. Oh that girl! So at 2 1/2, she is on her way (I HOPE) to being potty trained!

7 Months Old!

Landon is 7 months old today. I look at his sweet, chubby face and just can't believe 7 whole months have already flown by. I remember when he was a newborn saying I couldn't wait for him to get older. Right now, this stage has been my favorite! He is full of joy, laughter, smiles, drool, squeals, and grunts. This boy is an EATER. Loves food. Still nurses 6 times a day. 1st feeding is around 6:00-6:30 AM and last is at 8:30 PM. Starting today, I am feeding him solids 3 times a day instead of twice. His favorite are Carrots. He keeps his little mouth open just like a baby bird waiting on his next bite. His 2 bottom teeth are very tall and SHARP. He is working on another tooth. His massive drooling went away (or slowed WAY down) for about 3 weeks and as of last week, his drooling is back in full force and he has a snotty nose. Those were his 2 signs when he cut his other teeth, too. So hopefully this tooth will pop through soon. He isn't crawling yet; still rolling to get where he wants to go. He makes a really loud grunting sound and then laughs at himself. He is very ticklish. I can touch 1 rib and he starts belly laughing. He LOVES taking a bath. He just sits there and splashes his little hands in the water and smiles. He loves the sound. He weighs a little over 20 lbs now. I picked him up in his carseat the other day and decided to put him on our scale. Just over 29 lbs is what i carry on my arm. Ouch. Thank goodness it only goes to 22 lbs weight limit. We go outside everyday and he loves his stroller. I take the kids on a long walk each day and he just lounges back and chews on his toys. He has the whitest hair and most beautiful blue eyes. He does not like to sit in the grass in a onesie. I remember Adalyn didn't like the grass for a while either. These 7 months have been such a learning experience for me as I am learning to raise my two babies to the best of my ability. I am home with them everyday so some days can be a little challenging, but over all, it's been a lot easier than I thought it would be. As you know, i was terrified of Adalyn and Landon being only 22 months apart. I thought for sure i'd lose my sanity (and some days I have), but I am LOVING the fact that they are so close in age. It seriously warms my heart! I am so blessed!

Thursday night

was just plain awful. We were woken up ( at 2:45 ughhh) to Adalyn crying and yelling for us. We figured something was wrong since she never does that and I was scared she would wake up Landon so I went to see what was the matter. I walk in and pick her up only to feel she has no diaper on and that her legs are soaking wet. I was still half asleep so I made my eyes focus and realized she took her diaper off. I grabbed a diaper and asked her why in the world she took her diaper off and she simply said, "its ok momma. I not pee pee in my diaper." Uhh, really? You decided at 2:45 you don't want to pee in your diaper but during the day it doesnt bother you? Oh brother! Since her bed was absolutely soaking wet from about 2 gallons of pee, I took her to our bed. (which I dread) As soon as we lay down, wouldn't you know Landon wakes up crying. Adam went and put the paci in his mouth then it wasnt 15 minutes later, he woke up again. Of course Adalyn was still wide awake in our bed listening to him over the monitor asking what was wrong with him. After going in and out, then me rocking him, he woke back up as soon as I layed my head on my pillow. By this time, we were so done with walking back and forth to his room. The nights leading up to Thursday night Landon had been waking up but the paci in the mouth did the trick. That was unlike him to even wake up those nights so Thursday night just did us in. Adam told me to turn off the monitor and that he needed to cry. I totally agreed. We had to do that at about 4.5-5 months old and it took 1 night and he figured it out. I could hear him cry on and off for an hour or so. I just had to go check on him so I snuck out of bed and slipped him the paci. He was half asleep when I did it but still whinning. At 3:45, Adalyn is finally still in bed but im still awake. I was so aggervated she was in bed with us. I had her little legs kicking my back the rest of the time. Not my idea of a good nights rest! I dozed off and woke up around 4:30 and decided to check on Landon. He was fast asleep holding onto his blanket. I made my way back to bed and I think woke up at about 6:15 or so. Landon was so tuckered out from his crying spell he didnt wake up until 7:25, and then took a long morning nap and a 3 hour nap that afternoon. I was a little anxious to see how Friday night would go but thankfully he must have figured out we werent going to keep coming in his room to wait on him hand and foot so he has gone back to his regular sleeping rountine. Oh, and I might need to mention, Adalyn was wearing a night gown that night when she decided to take her diaper off and stand in her bed to pee.... I have obviously removed all her her night gowns from her drawer so she doesn't have the temptation to try that again. ;)

Pharaoh

I title this blog "Pharaoh" due to the fact Adalyn thinks he should go to time out and have his toys taken away since he did not listen to God. We, I mean the Easter Bunny, got Adalyn the Beginner's Bible for Easter. She loves all books and from time to time I'll ask Adalyn "What are you reading?" She replies back, "The Bible." Even though it's a Clifford book or a farm book of some sort. Either way, it makes me smile. I have been reading it to her every night and she is so interested in it. She loves the bright pictures and always asks "Who's that?" about all the people I am reading about. As I was reading about how Pharaoh would not let God's people escape from Egypt, it said that Pharaoh did not listen to God. I said, "Uh oh Adalyn. What happens when we don't listen to God?" She went on to tell me that he should be put in time out and his toys taken away from him. I just smiled and laughed. Ah, toddlers have the sweetest little minds. After our story, I sang to her, then we prayed. 3 times. All Adalyn's doings. She prayed first, then I said a prayer for her, then as I was putting her down to bed, She put her hands together and I asked if we needed to pray again and she said, yes. I pray she continues the track she is on! Before bedtime, she got a bath. She was filthy from playing outside and eating half my bag of bbq chips.

She loves her shaving cream She "Shaves" just like daddy.

Landon's whole face lites up whenever he sees Adalyn. He starts squealing really loud and kicks those legs as fast as he can. Here they are playing "Hide and seek"

Landon is belly laughing in this picture

and heres Adalyn holding Landon. She must think he's a baby doll because she rolls him around like he is one.

Easter

Sunday morning the kids woke up to their Easter Baskets.

Adalyn was so excited about her goodies and Landon and no clue what was going on. She said, "The bunny Easter came to see me"! After Adalyn looked through her basket and ate some gummies and Landon chewed on a bottle of bubbles, we started getting ready for church. We got everyone dressed and packed up for our long day ahead of us. The kids looked so CUTE in their Easter outfits. You know me, I like to be matchy-matchy so I had to get the kids something that coordinated. Take a look!
My granddaddy and uncle, aunt, and cousins came down to go to Church with us then we headed to my grandparents house. Landon was starving when we got there so I fed him and then we went outside to take a lot of pictures!

We then went inside to finish up all the cooking that needed to be done. Landon was wore out so he napped while we ate. and ate. and ate. I absolutely stuffed myself but it was SO good.
After lunch, Adalyn showing off her cute shirt!
We played outside, inside, colored, and took naps. I ended up waking Adalyn up so we could do the Easter egg hunt.
She was ready!

Landon found an egg, too! (don't you just love those thighs?! and that overly wet diaper?)

She did so well!
Landon sat and watched

I then decided that he was our prize egg so I stuck him in his basket

Easter is such a special day. I love that we serve a Risen Savior!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. Ours was great but would have been better if my Grandmother could have been with us! :)
