Thursday, December 20 was Adalyn's very first dentist appointment. We chose to take her to a Pediatric Dentist as I had heard such good things about them. Wild About Smiles is located in Murfreesboro but they have an office in Tullahoma as well. We decided to just go to the office in Tullahoma since it was closer and since the same four dentists from the Murfreesboro location go there as well. Lynn came to keep Landon while we made the trip to Tullahoma. I figured for the first visit it might be nice to just focus on Adalyn and to take lots of pictures (you know me) as opposed to chasing around a 15 month old all over the office. As soon as we got there, Adalyn made herself comfortable with some toys and books in the waiting room. We also played with the Wii.I had already filled out all the paper work I had printed online so we didn't have to wait long at all. They called us back and as we were walking back to the examination room, we couldn't help but notice all the fun "kid" themed stuff they had. It was a jungle themed dentist office with brightly colored walls with animals all around. It made me excited looking at everything, so I know kids have to love it, too. We made a pit stop so they could take her picture. Then as we walked into the exam room, a purple monkey with a "Wild About Smiles" shirt was laying there in the chair just for Adalyn. They also had a large cheetah print blanket incase you get cold! I'm telling ya, they thought of everything! Dr. Joy McKee was Adalyn's dentist. She is at the Tullahoma office every Thursday so we will probably stick to going on Thursday's since she started out with her and she was wonderful. Here is Dr. McKee showing Adalyn her mask and explained why she wore it. She went into detail about everything she was going to do. Adalyn was a little hesitant at first, but quickly warmed up to the idea of someone playing in her mouth.
Adalyn did so well. She layed there with her mouth wide open and did exactly as she said. The dentist was in and out after checking out her teeth, then the Dental Hygentist got to work. She was SO very friendly and personable, I really couldn't stop smiling the whole time we were there. I was just so impressed. Adalyn chose Cherry flavored toothpaste (gross) and layed there while she brushed and flossed her teeth. She liked when she would squirt water in her mouth as well.
All Finished! So fresh and so clean clean!
Once she was finished, Adalyn got to pick out a toy. We go back in 6 months. I was thrilled at how well her first dentist appointment went. I can't say enough good things about Wild About Smiles and their staff. They were fantastic! A few days later, Adalyn received a card in the mail from the Dental Hygentist (I can't for the life of me recall her name! ugh!). She wrote a sweet note and decorated it with butterflies and flowers. Also inserted was the picture they took of her since it was her first apointment. It's now hanging proudly on our fridge. :)

Looks like Adalyn really had a great time during her dental appointment. Her smile shows how proud she is that she did a great job. Hehe! Anyway, it’s a thoughtful effort for the clinic to send a card to your daughter. I believe you've develop a harmonious relationship with her dental clinic. How is she now? :)

She’s such a sweet little girl! I can only imagine how relieved you were when you saw her eagerness and excitement at the dentist chair. Moreover, you should be given a pat on the back for a great job with keeping her teeth healthy! Keep a close eye on her dental health and keep those teeth healthy. Thanks for sharing!
