"Nah, I'll be ok...."

This morning (Thursday) as I was taking Adalyn to her 2nd day of preschool, I told her I was going to miss her. Expecting a response like, "I will miss you too!" did not come out of her mouth. She smiled and said, "Ok"..... Ok? Really? Nope, that's not going to work! So I laughed and said, "Adalyn, you're suppose to say I will miss you too! Won't you miss me?" She responded, "Nah, I'll be ok with my teachers." And so it begins. My little girl is showing little signs that she does not need me as much as she once did. I am glad that she is so happy and excited about preschool so I'm really not all that sad she made that comment. It's just another example that she is growing and learning to be (somewhat) independent.

When she woke up this morning, she came down the hall waving at me and immediately told me she woke up upside down in her bed. ha. Crazy girl. I had an outfit picked out for her but she was pretty adamant that she wanted to wear something else. (I am so NOT ready for her to have a say-so in her clothes. lol) It wasn't a big deal so we decided on something else. She also said she wanted a pony tail with a bow.

I am happy to say Landon's 2 year molars are IN!!!! Can you jump up and down with me?!
Well, the top 2 are in, everytime I try to look at the bottom two, his tongue is so wide that area has been covered up. ha. But his mood has changed and he's eating a lot more now. It took about a week of crankiness and snotty noses to get those to cut the gums.

When I took Adalyn to school on Tuesday, Nancy informed me that once Landon realized she had left, he walked to her room to look for her and put his arms up and said, "Where did sissy go?" "Where did daddy go?" "Where did mommy go?" lol That was so sweet to hear.
Landon goes back and forth between calling her "sissy" and "Adnen".

Landon woke up at 6:30 this morning and when I heard him open his door, I walked back to meet him. He then walked to his bed and said, "I fall down, go boom!" This is his comment to me every morning. He then walked me over to his books and said, "Caps for Sale". Anyone remember that book? (I remember it from Kindergarten) That is one of his favorite books so we started off his day immediately with a good book.

Here are a few random pictures from the past week...

Another evening of letting the kids stick their head out of the sunroof :)

Burger King before Church last Wednesday. We eat really healthy in this family ;)

Adalyn loves coloring, painting, drawing, learning letters, etc. Since Adam is in the Elementary setting now, he is learning A LOT, but is also learning what kids need to know by the time they enter Kindergarten. Score! So Adalyn gets the inside scoop on that plus she has a retired teacher as her Memaw so she gets double the dose of schooling :) Anyway, I made this sheet for her yesterday. She was to find all the uppercase B's and the lowercase b's. She circled them and also traced them. This is such an easy activity for your kids to do! I plan to make her a new sheet every day and focus on one letter for her to spot.

Until next time!

First Steps Preschool

Today was a big milestone in Adalyn's life! (and her parents :) ) She started preschool today at Church. It's a Tuesday/Thursday school and the hours are from 8:15 until 1:00. That time is definitely intended for stay at home mom's, but Adam and I decided since she is almost 4, it would be a perfect time to introduce her to a school setting. It helps that she knows all the teachers from Church and her classroom is also her Sunday School class and Team Kid class on Wednesday nights. Lynn is also a preschool teacher and arrives at 7:30 so since I have to be at work, I will be dropping her off around 7:30-7:40 with Lynn until school starts. On Tuesday afternoons, Lynn will bring Adalyn home and will watch both kids until Adam or I get home from work. Nancy is there on Tuesday mornings until Lynn arrives. And on Thursdays, I will take a later lunch and pick Adalyn up then take her home. Nancy watches the kids all day on Thursdays so I will drop her off and head back to work. We went to Open House last Thursday to see her teachers and to meet her classmates. We have been talking about her starting Preschool for months now so she was so happy today was finally the day she could go. We ended up having to wake her up this morning so we could get a jump start on getting ready and for all the million pictures I wanted to take. Are you surprised? You shouldn't be! :)
We opened her door and Landon high tailed it to her bed and climbed in and pounced on her. Adalyn quickly remembered she was going to Preschool so she gladly got up and drank her milk. We all ate breakfast, got dressed, then headed outside to take her "First day of Preschool" pictures.

I am so proud of this girl and so excited for this new milestone in her life!

(I plan to use this chalkboard to document important events in both the kids lives- I just love it and love the idea!)

Daddy and Adalyn

Then it was my turn!

I can hear her laughing when I look at this picture. The sun was so bright!

She has been playing with her backpack and lunch box for at least a month now. We ended up having to put them away because she kept stuffing them full of STUFF. Socks, crayons, baby dolls, paper, Barbies, whatever she could fit in it, she used. She was so excited she was able to wear her backpack today and carry her lunch box.

Once we got back inside, she went to Landon, knelt down and said, " Landon, sissy is going to school today but I will be back later!"  It was so sweet. I couldn't help but to smile.

On our way to school, she talked and talked and then we prayed for her day, her teachers, and her new friends.

Here she is walking into school!

Putting her backpack and lunch box in her cubby.

And one last picture before I left...

I hope she has a great first day! I can actually say I didn't shed a tear. I kept wondering leading up to this day if I would but I was just so excited for her the excitement overfilled the sadness. When she starts Kindergarten, that will be a different story :)

Another Update!

It's been a little over a week since my last blog post so it's time for a little update! I want to start off by saying that 1 of Landon's 2 year molars has broken the skin! Hallelujah!!!  We have been looking for those things for months now it seems like. The only way to see that far back in his mouth is to tickle him. So, after his bath the other night, I was tickleing him which was making him laugh and scream so I had a clear view in searching and praise the good Lord I saw a tooth! I just hope the other 3 come quickly so he (WE) will be done with teething for good. He turned 23 months last Friday (16th) and I just cannot believe we will be celebrating his 2nd birthday in less than a month! If you ask him how old he is going to be he says, "I TWOOOOO!" I laugh every time. He just sounds so sweet saying it and it quickly reminds me just how big he is getting.

Last Saturday night we went out to eat at El Mo's with Nancy, Patsy and Bo. It was delicious as always. Afterwards, we went to Home Depot to by a light fixture and new faucets for our bathroom. We are doing a mini DIY and I cannot WAIT to show you! This is week 3 or working on it (eeekkk!) and we are very close to having it completed. I plan to do a post on it so be looking for it! Esp. if you have builder grade oak cabinets like so many of us do in our home! Ok, that's all I'm saying about that!
While we were at Home Depot, we stopped at sat on the lawn mowers. Landon yells "MOW GAS! MOW GAS!" loud enough for every one in the entire store to hear so we put him on a lawn mower very quickly to hush him up. Landon wouldn't sit still long enough to get his picture so I snapped one of Adalyn.
We finally made our way inside and started picking out our fixtures. Everytime we go they love to "ride" in the cart that looks like a car. So as they were "driving" we were loading up the bugee. Adalyn got out first then Landon was begging to get out, too. I told him he could get out but he had to hold Adalyn's hand the rest of the time. Don't you know he grabbed her hand and took off with her. He didn't let go b/c he knew I'd put him back in the cart. haha. He drug her around everywhere and all I could hear was the both of them laughing the entire time. I couldn't help but to laugh with them. They have such a sweet relationship! Sometimes ;)

Sunday after Church we ended up staying an hour later waiting on Adam to count ballots. So I kept them occupied by walking around, going outside to play, and playing in Adalyn's sunday school class. It was 1:00 by the time we left and they were exhausted. We got them in their beds then I hopped in my bed and napped, too. Landon didn't nap long so he fell back to sleep in the recliner with Adam. After about 2 or so hours, Adalyn walked in. She climbed into bed with me and I did what any good parent would do. I gave her my phone to keep her occupied while I layed there. She ended up taking a picture of me.

We all got up, the kids played while I cooked an early supper. (fried okra and cornbread- oh yeah!) and then we loaded up and headed back to Church. For about a month or so, everytime we pull into Church Landon says, "We Home!" and oh wow- how happy that makes me! To know he considers his Church his other home is such a blessing. I pray that both of our kids will always have a burning desire to WANT to be in Church and will always consider it "home".

I can't remembr which night this was but they both wanted to hang out of the sun roof :) So when we pulled into the subdivision, we unbuckled them and let them have at it!

Well, that's a little update on our week! I have left out a ton, I'm sure, but until next time!

Our day on the lake

We spent the day on the lake yesterday and the kids had a blast! We left after Sunday School and made our way to the lake. My uncle, aunt, and cousin joined in on the fun too. With all of our schedules basically all over the place, it has been hard to find a weekend to take the boat out! We had lots of sunshine and beautiful weather. Couldn't have asked for a better afternoon. Mother of the year here forgot to apply sunscreen on my kids. Whoops. I decided to put some on wayyy after the fact. Oh well! They are both sporting rosy red cheeks today and they look so cute :) Once we got out on the lake, we found a little cove, threw the anchor in and started eating lunch and swimming. First thing Adalyn said was that she wanted to jump off the top. I had expected her to ask so I was thrilled she wanted to do it. We climbed up to the top, snapped a photo, and down we went! She came up laughing! She loved it!

So guess what we did over and over and over again? :)

We did this on and off all afternoon. She even told us she wanted to do it by herself. So she climbed the ladder, yelled "1, 2, 3" and jumped! She loved when we would all cheer for her. This girl has no fear.

Then we went tubing! This was a lot of fun and Adalyn seriously giggled the entire time we rode! It was so sweet. Landon liked it too. He kept a pretty straight face but would crack a smile and I would hear a laugh every once in a while.

Our faces are priceless in the next couple of photos!

(from the conclusion of these photos, mine and Adalyn's mouth stayed open the entire time. ha ha!)

We took a break and let Autumn and Adalyn ride together. But first, it was time for a cookie break :)

Here they go!

Landon thought it was so funny to watch them ride the tube

I don't think his smile ever left his face!

Autumn went knee boarding then I tried later on in the day. I use to knee board quite a bit with Carla back in the day! But that's been at least 5 years ago. I'm proud to say I got up my first try, was able to go side to side and spin around twice! This ol' momma still has it! But, if you want to know how I'm feeling today? Sore. Every inch of my body is sore. Ha!

Adalyn begged to try it, too! We knew she wouldn't be able to hold the rope but on the front of the board is a clip so we clipped it there and made her lay on her stomach and hold the sides of the board. Autumn rode with her to help keep her balance.
Getting her up on the board was quite the task.

Ha- look at this face!

I was so excited when they were able to get on!

They rode around for a few minutes before Autumn slipped off...

I swam around while they pulled them around... Here she is after she fell off. I was so proud of her!

We all had a great day and we are all sunburnt! It started to rain right after Adalyn stopped "knee" boarding. We were so thankful for perfect weather the entire afternoon!

The kids fell asleep in the car and once we got home, we had a picnic in the living room and watched Despicable Me on ABC Family. Then it was baths and bed. They were so wiped out!
