This is what we have been waiting for all winter! A snow "big" enough for us to play in it, build a snowman and go sledding. It rarely snows in Middle TN and when it finally does, we try and enjoy every minute of it! There was lots of talk about this snow storm coming up from the South so we were all expecting it and ready for it! Schools dismissed early on Wednesday, February 25 but we stayed in the office until our normal ending time of 4:15. No snow yet as I went home. Adam left school and headed to the farm and by the time he got home, the kids and I were dipping pretzel sticks in our jar of peanut butter we were so hungry. I didn't feel like cooking so we decided to head to Cracker Barrel for supper before the snow started. Landon always asks to go there so he can play with the toys. If he even hears the name Cracker Barrel, there is no changing his mind. He is dead set on going. So we played with toys, ate a delicious supper and watched the snow fall from our table. I'm like a kid when it comes to snow. I was so excited! Everything outside was starting to cover so quickly. Once we got home, Adam and I decided to surprise the kids and let them know we were going to get dressed to go out and play. It was around 7:30 or so by now which is when we start brushing their teeth and reading stories for bed time so they were thrilled! We bundled up and headed out. The snow was falling SO fast, it was coming down sideways at times! Again, for Middle TN, this is an amazing (and rare) sight to see. We stayed out for about an hour and had so much fun!!
The Lord never ceases to amaze me by His work.
Snow is just so beautiful and peaceful to look at.
It's so much fun to play in the snow at night!
The next morning we woke up and packed up extra clothes and food because we had a fun filled day planned in the snow with friends!
Growing up anytime it snowed, my brother (and later Adam) always always always went to my grandparents house to ride 4-wheelers and sled in their front yard when a big snow came. It will always be one of my favorite memories. I couldn't wait to take the kids sledding down the hill in their front yard. What a lot of people may not know is that my mom and dad are renovating their house and will be moving within the next few months! I am so happy this piece of property will forever stay in our family. I couldn't imagine this little "piece of heaven" going to anyone else.
Anyway, we got there around 8:15 and started the wood stove in the basement and then walked around. My dad already had someone there that morning working inside the house. It's coming along so quickly!
Before I get into our sledding pictures, I snapped these as we left our house that morning.
See our little snowman family? The TN hat is buried under all the snow that continued to fall throughout the night!
This is Max, my grandparents dog. He has stayed at the house ever since my granddaddy passed away 2 years ago.
Isn't it beautiful?!
Of course the first thing Landon did was hop on the tractor!
You can see some of the construction!
Across this creek is where Adam and I would like to build our house one day.
I mean, look at this view!
After everyone arrived, we pulled out the sleds and started in on the fun!
We sled for hours! We all had a blast and I think it's safe to say we were all wore out once we were finally done. After an hour or two in, Landon and Adalyn took a break and got in the Tahoe to warm up and watch a little bit of a movie while they rest of us kept sledding, then they joined back in on the fun!
Wipe out!
But came up laughing!
We left around 11:30 and went to Dustin and Christina's house for lunch. Everyone was starving and then the kids played for a while before we went back out and put the kids on the 4-wheeler with the sled being pulled on the back. I can't believe I didn't pull my camera out for that! All the kids loved it.
Landon fell asleep in the car and once we finally got home, we all layed around. It was such a fun morning and afternoon with our friends.
So thankful for them!!
Thank you Lord for this snow!!
Oh yeah, I wanted to mention just so I will remember when I read back on this one day. This post marks my 400th blog entry! I am so glad I decided years ago to blog about our life. I truly treasure this my blog and know that Adam and I (and one day our kids) will love reading stories of their childhood and all the fun things we have done.
