Carter Joy Trail was born June 30, 2010 to one of my best friends, also known to you as "Aunt Carla". She weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and was 20 inches long. Everyone assumed the delivery of Carter would go smoothly and that Shawn and Carla would be able to hold their sweet bundle of joy immediately. However, doctors and nurses soon discovered Carter could not breathe on her own and was taken to the NICU. They then transported her to Vanderbilt Children's and was diagnosed with a condition called "Transposition of the large vessels". Of course your momma doesn't know what any thing medical means, so I googled it. However, after reading it online, the family explained it more on my terms through facebook. Basically, the vessels in her heart are not going in the right direction; therefore, she cannot breathe on her own. So, she will be having open heart surgery soon to correct it! Adalyn, Carter has already gone through more than most of us will in our lifetime. She's already like your Aunt Carla, a fighter! The whole town has been praying for sweet Carter. It is so comforting knowing that we have an AMAZING God who has this whole situation in his hands and that HE is watching over her.

Adalyn, you and Carter are only 7 months apart. I know for a fact the two of you will grow up together playing softball just like your momma and Aunt Carla did. You guys will be the best of friends, and will probably get into some trouble one day. Although we prefer you don't! =) But, girls will be girls, and teenagers will be teenagers. One thing I pray for in your friendship is that the both of you will keep God 1st in your everyday life and live for HIM. I can't wait to watch the two of you grow up together and be the best of friends!
