On Easter Sunday night, we loaded everyone up for our trip to Florida to visit Christopher, Brandy and Hunter. We had a 10 hour drive ahead of us so we split up the drive and stopped in Valdosta before continuing on the next day. We put in The Good Dinosaur for the kids as we left my parents house and settled in for the trip. Adalyn ended up falling asleep before the movie was over and then once it was over, I asked Landon if he wanted me to put in another movie and he said, "No. I want to go to sleep."
Well, ok then! :) We got the kids headphones to wear as they watch their movies and oh my goodness I can't believe we waited this long to do that. A quiet car is golden!! As they slept, Adam and I were able to talk without any interruption and we really enjoyed our time together! I had packed sandwiches and chips for us to eat for dinner so we wouldn't have to stop which ended up being a good thing since the kids were dead asleep. We arrived in Valdosta at 1:00 AM and that's when we woke the kids up! They were excited to be in a hotel (oh, the little things!) and we all fell asleep and woke up the next morning refreshed. We stopped at Chick-fil-a to eat and let the kids play before we made the 3 hour drive to their house. Easiest trip ever! We were all thrilled when we arrived and Brandy and Hunter were home waiting for us! Later that afternoon we visited the park they have in their subdivision and let the kids play. We grilled that night and hit then hit the sack. We were wiped out!
The next day we kept Hunter while they went to work. Christopher got home early so we loaded up the boat and headed to the Island! They live close to Daytona/New Smyrna Beach area. The kids were so excited to get on Uncle Christopher's boat!
Brandy, Chase, April and their kids met us on the Island later on then we headed for dinner at Outriggers- it was delicious! As we walked around the marina as we waited for our table, we were in absolute AWE as to how BIG all the yachts were! We also noticed whichever yacht was last to fill up with diesel spent $2,600.00 to do so.
AGHH!!! Can you imagine shelling out over two thousand dollars to put gas in your boat?! Crazy!
After dinner, we drove back home and Adalyn and Landon loved having Rylan and Kinzee there to play with as well. The next morning (Wednesday), they left and we had Hunter for the day. We played outside, went on a ride in the wagon, and then put him down for a nap. While he napped, the kids played and watched TV. Once Christopher and Brandy got home, we loaded up to get back on the boat! In the mean time, we had already re-packed our bags and vehicle for the drive home that night. We went to a nearby lake and stopped to swim in the springs. Here is where you will swim in crystal clear and freezing cold, fresh water. Of course this time, we just let the kids brave it while we watched. :)
Once we got back to the dock, I changed the kids into their clothes and we all headed to Chick-Fil-A for a late dinner before we made the drive home. I'm thinking we left around 7:45 PM and the kids fell asleep within 30 minutes of being in the car. We drive all night and got home at 5 AM! Whew. The kids slept the entire time and once home, we put them in their beds and then Adam and I crashed, too. We ended up waking up around 9:00 and then took a looong nap later that afternoon. We had a great few days visiting with them!
Such a fun couple of days!
