On Sunday, we ventured over to Hollywood Studios. Extra Magic hours were available for this particular day and it's always good to take advantage of that extra time! Magic hours happen either an hour before the the park opens or in some cases, an hour after a park closes. On this day, magic hours started at 8:00 for those staying on resort property only.
Just yet another great perk as to why you should stay on property!
We arrived early and got our place in line. Hollywood Studios is a park I had never been to. I did lots of research on it so I would know what to expect and look out for though. When it comes to actual rides, there aren't a lot at all. Just lots and lots of different types of shows. And it's no secret that Star Wars has officially taken over there. So, if you are a huge Star Wars fan, you definitely don't want to miss out. To be honest, I have never actually seen a Star Wars movie and couldn't tell you what any of it means. Adam always jokes with me and will say lines from one of the movies and will ask if I know what it's off of. Almost always my answer is no. He will then say, "I still can't believe you haven't watched a single Star Wars movie!" He just shakes his head and laughs haha
Landon has never watched a movie but since Star Wars is practically everywhere you go these days, he has picked up on it all on his own.
We had our Fastpasses already selected for the day but we knew our game plan was going to be to head to the Toy Story Mania ride as SOON as we entered the park. This ride is one of the most popular rides in all of Disney. We had a fastpass for it (which is difficult to get!) but we wanted to do it twice so we went straight there. We didn't even wait 10 minutes before we hopped on. The waiting queue for the ride is entertaining all in itself! It really makes you feel like you are right inside the movie!
But before I talk more about this, I want you to see who we saw before we entered the ride.
The green army men from the movie! Landon has talked about meeting these guys for months. Ever since we told him about our vacation and everything we would get to do. He was probably most hyped up about meeting these characters!
As we made our way to ride Toy Story Mania, we looked up and there they were. Just walking down the street. Landon jumped out of the stroller as fast as he could. I'll let the pictures tell the story!
Do you see his sweet, little face looking back at me?
I could have cried.
It was like this was the moment he had been waiting on and wanted to check with me to make sure I was seeing what he was seeing, too.
Oh my heart!
A little moment like that is why you go to Disney! To see it through their precious eyes.
And off he goes!
What a way to start your morning off!
Next up, Toy Story Mania!
See what I mean by making you feel you could be in the movie?!
The ride was awesome. Once off, we stepped across the street to meet Buzz and Woody! We waited maybe 10 minutes and while we waited, they had so many fun props to have you picture made with.
Landon wanted his picture with the creepy doll!
It's Stinky Pete!
We checked out a few of the Star Wars attractions next. I didn't know what anything was so I was just along for the ride on this one.
This guy was just plain weird
Who knows who he is?!
Next on the agenda, snacks! We grabbed some ice cream and sat in the shade.
Storm Troopers would randomly be walking through the park so it was neat to come across them from time to time throughout the day.
We made a pit stop to watch a quick show they put on.
Before our lunch reservation, we caught a few shows like The Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Disney Junior Live on Stage. Both were great!
These shows were especially nice since they were inside with lots of cold air conditioning!
Next up, lunch at Hollywood & Vine! If you can get reservations for this restaurant, do it! Especially if your kids are into Disney Jr. This was totally up our alley with Handy Manny, Princess Sofia, Doc McStuffins and Jake! Ah, the kids were in heaven! And I was in heaven watching them interact with them. Just one of those mushy Disney moments from a momma! haha
See his hand?
:)
He was tickling her face
I wanted my picture with Doc, too. ;)
See what Landon is doing? Showing off his Jake shirt!
Sofia loved Adalyn's shirt!
and just because :) Landon being Landon and acting like a super hero of some sort
Lunch was wonderful. It was buffet style with lots of options and the characters take their time at each table and really interact with the kids. It was a great experience and I highly recommend it!
Look who we came across as we made our way throughout the park?
Talk about making a little boys day!
Landon's souvenir for the day
Time to meet Olaf!
We then went to watch the Frozen show. I have to say, one of the very best shows I saw all week! Soooo good!
Landon dozed off for a few minutes before it started :)
Oh it was so full of entertainment! I think we laughed the entire time. I would definitely say this is a "must" when visiting Hollywood Studios. Even if you aren't a fan of Frozen, (which I'm not sure how you couldn't be!), you will still love it!
It even snowed!
We left around 3:30 or 4 and made our way back to the resort. We didn't do naps this day and chose not to return back to Hollywood Studios that night for Fantasmic. I hear it is awesome though!!
We all wanted to swim so that's exactly what we did! The Art of Animation has an awesome pool and when you swim under water, you can hear music playing! We swam and ate our supper outside overlooking the pool. It was so fun. We were tired afterwards and headed back to the room to shower and get some much needed rest.
I took these as we walked towards the pool. There is literally a photo opportunity every step you make within that resort!
And there my kiddos are in front of Ursla!
So that was the end of our 2nd day. Hollywood Studios and swimming at the resort that night. A pretty successful Disney Day!
