Easter 2016

Easter came super early this year and fell on March 27! Surprisingly, the weather wasn't too cold which is great considering everyone likes to pull out the sleeveless dresses and sandals for Easter Sunday. It was pretty cloudy and only sprinkled for just a little bit that afternoon. After church, we headed to my mom and dad's for a big, Easter lunch! We decided to change the menu up this year and grill hamburgers and hot-dogs instead of having the typical ham, macaroni and cheese and green beans. I love me a good cheeseburger so this was right up my alley! My uncle Stephen, Aunt Erin and Casey and Autumn arrived just shortly after we did and we got busy getting things ready. With all the trimmings that's typical with a grilled burger or hot-dog, my mom made me some deviled eggs because she knows I LOVE them! So thank you momma!
Everyone ate and hung around and relaxed. HGTV had Fixer Upper re-runs on so we watched that while the kids played around. Later that afternoon, we hid eggs for the egg hunt! Adalyn and Landon enjoyed racing each other to see who could come up with the most eggs. Thankfully, their baskets ended up being pretty even. Whew. You momma's feel me! haha

Adalyn LOVES Little House on the Prairie. So the Easter bunny thought it might be a good idea to include a season of the show in her basket. ;)
It was one of my favorite shows growing up so I am glad Adalyn is getting to experience it, too! And plus, Nellie Olson gives me a lot of chances to talk about "how not to act". ha!
Nancy has gotten her almost the whole collection of the books and we literally read them daily!

A few pictures before Church

Landon got a little too still sitting with Erin and dozed off for about 20 minutes or so.
Look at that hand!

Finally, it was time to hunt Easter eggs!

After this, everyone started packing up to leave. I cut Adam's hair first and then we packed up the car. It was around 7:30 by this time and we were hitting the road to start our Spring Break week!
We were going to visit Christopher and Brandy and thought we would split up the drive by stopping in Valdosta and then finishing up the rest of the trip the following day (Monday). We put the kids in their pajamas, put The Good Dinosaur in the DVD player, and off we went!

We had a great, relaxing Easter!
As fun as hunting eggs can be, it is so important to reflect on what Easter really means and what Jesus did for you and me. I'm so thankful for that sacrifice- nothing else really matters!

I wasn't blogging in 2010 for Adalyn's 1st Easter

March in review

Wow- March flew by!! We had a jam packed month and enjoyed every minute of it! Here is a quick re-cap off my phone of what we were up to last month.

March was pleasantly warm throughout the month! We had some cold and rainy days, too, but thankfully we saw a taste of Spring this month.

Popsicle's on the deck at Granna and Granddaddy's. You can't beat the view of their backyard!

Sunset from the front porch at my mom and dad's

Schools also celebrated Dr. Seuss by having Read Across America Week. This was Adalyn dressed for Wacky Wednesday! I'd say her outfit definitely fit within the "wacky" description. haha so fun! This is an extra fun week for the students and teachers with dress up days, activities and guest readers coming in and out of the classrooms during the week. Adalyn LOVED it!
Guess who got to be a guest reader on pajama day?
ME!
Best part about it, I kept it a secret from Adalyn. You should have saw how excited she was when I walked into her classroom!

We also went to Atlanta with Dustin and Christina one weekend to IKEA!! We had the trip planned for months and we were soooo excited when it finally came time to pack up and leave! We left real early one Saturday morning. We stopped for breakfast at Hardees and then made our way to IKEA. The guys were such good sports and they kept up with us with no complaining!

This was about hour 4 spent in IKEA. Seriously, it will take you about that long to go through the entire store. Christina went with things in mind for her house and since Adam and I didn't really have any projects up our selves, we got random things from decor for the house to throw pillows to be inserts for two of Landon's super hero slip covers, to picture ledges, umbrellas, plants, a centerpiece for our dining room table, and so on. Things are so incredibly affordable that you will find yourself just adding to your cart because you'd be crazy not to buy what you see!

After IKEA we headed over to eat a late lunch at The Varsity. It's the best greasiest hamburger and fries you can get your hands on! We went there the last time we were in Atlanta together so it's kind of a tradition! After we were recharged, we headed to the biggest Target I have ever seen. You park in a parking garage underneath the store. It was huge. I racked up on a lot of clothes for myself and Adalyn. Landon is set with summer clothes so Adalyn got the hook up!

After Target, we parked and spent the rest of the evening in Atlantic Station. The very best atmosphere to shop and eat at! You walk the streets and can shop, listen to bands play, or eat. The weather was in the mid 70's (even at night!) that weekend as well. It seriously could not have been more perfect!!!

It's safe to say we did a lot of damage in shopping and ate just about every time we turned around. hahahaha.
It was such a fun weekend- kid free!

One warm afternoon after work and school, we pulled out the sidewalk chalk.
I absolutely LOVE how Landon draws his stick people. He makes the arms and legs extrrraaaa long, it's just so precious. Notice the hair, eyes, noes and smile? Ah, I HAD to take a picture of him beside his masterpiece. Melts my heart.

I love his sweet smile!!

I came across this shirt online and HAD to get it for Adalyn.

On this night, we headed to the MAC and watched the 5th graders preform Annie!!! Wow Wow Wow. It was so awesome! It is SO impressive to see those students act and sing like that. Amazing!

Another beautiful sunset at my parents

This made me crack up. I looked over while at Adalyn's gymnastics to see Landon with his legs crossed looking like a little old man! hahaha

1st practice! Softball season has officially started! Makes me sooo happy to see this girl play ball!

and just like that, on March 23, I turned 29!! I've been celebrating my birthdays with Adam since I turned 15 :)

This was the afternoon of my birthday. My birthday fell on a Wednesday and we always go to Church on Wednesday nights. Adalyn ended up falling asleep around 4:40 that afternoon. I tried to wake her up but it just wasn't happening. Adam was teaching a class so he and Landon went on and I stayed home while she slept. I kept thinking she would eventually wake up but she never did. I took that time to clean up around the house and get things ready for the next day. I even watched what I wanted to on TV! Around 6:30 I turned on her bedroom light thinking that might wake her up. It didn't. I asked her if she was hungry and that I would make her something to eat but she didn't budge. I then maneuvered her 75 lb body and took off her school clothes and slipped on some pj's, tucked her in and then woke her up at 6:15 the next morning for school.
Kindergarten wins again!

Look what we received at 5:30 one morning... 81 chicks! The kids were thrilled!

Landon's Easter party at preschool. It was raining so the egg hunt was held inside the gym.

He and Adalyn can't keep their hands off the chickens! He "talks" to them in a little baby voice saying, "awww your're sooo cute!" "It's ok! I'm right here!" " I got you! Don't worry!"
hahaha It's adorable. But we have to remind him every 10 seconds not to squeeze them too hard.

We have the best little helpers on the farm!

Look at his hand!

Playing in the creek at Granna and Granddaddy's
See what Landon is doing?! hahaha

I let the kids pull out a few chicks and play with them in the front yard one afternoon. They LOVED it and enjoyed "babysitting" them for a while.

Ohhh, and I have very exciting news! Adalyn can ride her bike without training wheels now! One Sunday back in March we decided it was time to learn how to ride without help so Adam took off her training wheels. We practiced with her all week and that Saturday, boom! She figured it out and has been training wheel free since! We also determined she needs a bigger bike- so that will come soon.

That's a look inside March! We also celebrated Easter and enjoyed Spring Break!! That will be for another post!

Goodbye March, Hello April!!
