A new means of transportation

It's official... Landon is mobile! No, he's not crawling to get where he wants to go, he is rolling. The kids and I were playing in Adalyn's room yesterday and I had Landon in the center of her rug. He watches her like a hawk and lately has been trying with all of his might to crawl to go after her. I figure we have another month or so before he is crawling, but he figured out how to roll to get where he wants to go. He has been rolling over for weeks now and as soon as he hits his belly, he will be fine for a few minutes then he whines because he doesnt know what to do next. That isn't a problem anymore. As soon as he hit his tummy, he would roll to his back. As soon as he was on his back, he rolled to his tummy. I was amazed and completely shocked that he went from the center of the rug all the way to Adalyn's toy chest. I brought him back to the center of the rug and this time he rolled all the way to the window. Brought him back and he decided he wanted to roll to her closet. I ended up grabbing the video camera so I could record him. It reminds me of when I was a kid. Anytime I saw a hill, I felt the need to roll down it. So Landon's means of traveling is rolling. I went to sew last night and Adam told me he left landon in the middle of our bed so he could get Adalyn her pajamas. When he came back, he had rolled over twice within a minute or so he had walked out of the room. The days of us plopping him down where ever are over. I can't wait for him to crawl. I am loving all of these milestones!

Sideways

Yesterday morning when I went to get Landon out of his crib, I noticed he had somehow scooted himself sideways in his bed. He was perfectly wedge with his head at the head board and feet at the foot board. That's a sign that tells me he is (almost) on the move. This morning when I went to get him, he was slightly sideways but pretty much in the same position we left him in last night. I propped Landon on the couch this morning, gave him the remote control, and placed the boppy somewhat around him and I went into the kitchen to wash Adalyn's sippy cup. Adalyn was busy playing with her "tent"
and I left Landon chewing on the remote. As I was washing the cup, I noticed it got really quiet in the living room. This is never good when you have 2 kids. Well, come to find out, Landon had fallen flat on his back and was straining to get up and Adalyn was concentrating on none other than Mickey Mouse. Whew. Nothing bad happened. I just propped him back up and went on about my business. After a while, I put Landon in his excersaucer and I got the Pledge out and started dusting. Adalyn loves to help me so I always get her a rag, too. We were dusting the TV stand and she so calmly turns and says to Landon, "Bubba, this is a chemical. Do not touch. Only big girls." That girl knows how to make me laugh! We keep allof our cleaning stuff locked under the sink. I always tell her their are chemicals under there and that is why it's locked and we can't play in that cabinet. So by her saying that to landon reassured me that she does listen! Sometimes! ;)

Avocados

Monday night was Avocado night for Landon. For the most part, he liked them. He did get a sour face and had a slight body shake every once in a while, which was very entertaining, but over all, he liked them. We will be doing them this week then move on to Butternut Squash next week.

The latest on everything

Since we got home from Gatlinburg, I have not been able to breathe or taste my food (or even water)thanks to a major sinus infection. Since I'm nursing, I can't take anything for it so I have to deal with it until it decides its ready to leave me and move on to someone else. My ears pop everytime I swallow and my eyes are killing me. Hopefully it will pass soon. Yesterday the kids and I were playing in Adalyn's room. I noticed Landon's pants were tight on him so I left him on the rug (in the center of the room) and went to get him more pants. I walked back to find Adalyn dragging him by his legs headed towards the door. She had almost made it but I walked in just in time to stop her. I looked at landon's face and it looked like he was enjoying the ride. He had the biggest grin on his face and Adalyn was just chuckling. I told her she didn't need to do that and that it may hurt him. I then buried my face in the carpet so I could silently laugh to myself. We never have any dull moments in this house. The potty training is still going fairly well... for the most part. She asked me to wear "big girl minnie mouse panties" yesterday so I explained that we do not pee (or poop) in them and to tell me if she needed to. She did great all morning until lunch time. She decided to pee while sitting in her booster chair. Thanks Adalyn. The past few days whenever she pees (and im not in the room) I walk in to her standing naked or she will bring me her diaper and asks me to get her a new one... This is really bugging me. She cant stand the way it feels so she takes it off as soon as she can. I try to catch her and tell her not to, but it's obviously not registering with her. I feel at a loss with all of this. Its very frustrating. Done with my rant. Here are my cute kiddos! (along with Adalyn's oreo mouth and messy hair)

Look who's 5 months old!

Landon turned 5 months old Thursday, February 16.

I keep saying this, but the older Landon gets, the more fun he is! Ah, he is such a joy. He is really trying to sit up on his own. When he starts going back, he will try and pull himself forward to get his balance. I was able to snap quite a few pictures of him practicing.
Aside from trying to sit up, he is a major roller. I can barely keep him on his back anymore. He is dying to crawl. I can just tell. He pulls his legs up to his stomach and grabs the rug to help him go. He tries so hard he ends up getting on his side and then fusses because he can't figure out what to do next. I have a feeling he will crawl (then walk) pretty early. Adalyn was walking at 9 1/2 months and crawling at 6 1/2. I can just tell he wants so bad to keep up with Adalyn. It amazes me to watch them together. His face lights up everytime she comes over to talk to him. She is such a huge help. At times I can hear him whinning in his excersaucer if Im in another room doing something. I can tell Adalyn to go talk to him and he just stares at her in awe. I really can't wait for him to be mobile so they can play together. These 5 months have come so fast... I am looking forward to each new milestone as the months pass by!

Gatlinburg ( Landon's first "mini" vacation )

We met up with Christopher, Brandy, my mom and dad, my Granddad, my Uncle, Aunt, and 2 cousins for a long weekend in Gatlinburg! We left right around 4:30 Friday once Adam got home and we got the Tahoe packed. I was a little anxious as to how well the trip would go considering we have a 2 year old and 5 month old. But thankfully, we made it with no major meltdowns! We couldn't even get through McMinnville before Adalyn said she needed to pee. Ugh, really? She has been on a roll lately with using the potty, it seriously never occured to me that she might need to go while we were traveling. Adam and I just looked at each other like, "Do we really HAVVVEE to stop?" We obviously decided to stop. Once I took her in the gas station, we discovered the men and women had to share a bathroom. Yuck. I am so weird when it comes to nasty bathrooms, esp. with Adalyn. What made it worse was we had to wait on an old man to finish his business. Again, nasty. Once we were finally able to go in, I told her to NOT touch a thing or else I would have to take her to the doctor to get a shot. ha. It worked. After she was done, I strapped her back in and off we went. She watched Bambi and Landon slept. We stopped at a burger King to eat and I walked over to Subway for a $5.00 footlong. That's my kind of deal. I fed Landon in the car while they went in to order. Once he was done, I went inside myself. Supper was good, but I was so ready to be there. Once we finally arrived, Adalyn was SO excited to see everyone! We didn't go to bed until late. Saturday morning we got up, played, ate, and got ready. The guys went off to different stores, my mom and Erin shopped antiques, while Brandy, Autumn, myself and the kids braved the Outlet Mall. As always, it took forever to park. Once we did, we ventured in to Old Navy to look for jeans. No luck so we moved on. We visited a couple more stores. Went into Gap, found some awesome deals in the kid/baby section, waited in line for like 20 minutes (i normally would not have done that but I seriously got some shirts for like $2.00)While I waited in line, Brandy gave landon a bottle and Adalyn was still asleep in her stroller. we finally left Gap, and went to Carters. Adalyn woke up and needed to pee. (again) By the time I got her to the bathroom, she had already peed. Adalyn was a little grumpy. She only slept for about 40 minutes and she wouldnt eat her sandwich I made for her. I swear, she is the pickest eater ever. It's very annoying. So I told her she would starve until she decided she wanted to eat again. I use to fix every possible thing in the world just so she would eat it if she didnt like what I already fixed. Let me just say i stopped that soon after I started it. That is a bad habit to get in. A friend once told me, your child will NOT let themselves starve. They will eventually eat. I guess its a toddler thing. Anyway, we left the outlet and headed back to the cabin. We napped, played, ate, watched TV, and played some more. Thank goodness for Autumn and Casey. Adalyn was attached to them the entire weekend so they (and everyone else) were a huge help! We ate steaks that night. YUM. Sunday, we were lazy all day long. I don't think anyone got out of their pajamas. We ate a big, late, breakfast. Thankfully, Adalyn ate a couple pieces of bacon and half a biscuit. Everyone played pool all day. I was able to nap with landon which was wonderful. Adam, Brandy, Casey, Christopher, Autumn and myself decided we would try the outlet mall that night. I wanted to go to American Eagle for jeans so we left the kids with my mom and Erin. My dad, granddad, and uncle were there too, but for whatever reason, I have to believe they were the ones who did all the "watching" and playing. =) Come to find out, the outlet mall closed at 6:00. Really? 6? ugh. It was snowing which was exciting. so since our shopping trip came to an end before it even started, we stopped at Mellow Mushroom for the best pizza ever. Came back to the cabin to the kids bathed, in their pajamas, and ready for milk! Landon fell asleep after we had birthday cake to celebrate my dad and brothers birthday and after he had some banana and milk. Adalyn fell asleep a little while late watching Veggie Tales. I crawled into bed and everyone else stayed up and played pool. No thanks! Sleep is so much better than playing pool. Monday morning we were of course already up early since Landon is clock work and wants to eat at 6 AM. I had already packed most of our things the night before, so I didnt have much else to do. We figured it would be best for us to get on the road as soon as possible since Landon's first nap of the day is at 8:00 and he sleeps for 2 hours. We were on the road by 7:30 our time. Landon fell asleep pretty quickly and Adalyn watched Mickey Mouse and Veggie Tales. He woke up, gave him a bottle so we didn't have to stop, and then he was content with playing with his toys until he dozed off again. Adalyn on the other hand by this point was extremely tired and incredibly grumpy. She entered brat mode real quick. She wanted out of her car seat and couldnt understand why I wouldn't unbuckle her. This led to about a 30 or so minute crying session. I absolutely can't stand when she has a melt down in the car. You can't do anything to fix it so you pretty much have to listen to it. She finally calmed down and fell asleep. Both kids were asleep at this point so it was peace and quiet for the next 30 minutes before we got home. Adam got Adalyn out of the car and they both went and layed down. They ended up napping for 2 hours. I ate lunch in the mean time, played with Landon, started unpacking, and put Landon down for his nap. When they woke up, Adam took Adalyn to Wal-Mart to buy groceries. I drug the excersaucer in the bathroom so I was able to take a shower. Landon was pretty content playing until I got out. He was tired again so he was whinney. I put him back to sleep and got on the computer for a bit until Adam and Adalyn got back. As soon as she came in she informed me, " I pee peed in wal-mart!" she was so proud. She got her M&M's and I started making a tater tot casserole. It was a long day. We gave Adalyn a bath, Landon sat in his chair and just watched, drooled, and played with whatever toy we would put in his lap to make him happy. Adalyn was in bed by 7:15. Adam and I did our nightly rountine with Landon. It was bath night for him then he had Avocados for the 1st time. Put him in his bed and Adam and I were in bed around 9:30. It was a great weekend! But there is no place like home!

This is how you can keep a 2 year old entertained for a looong time. Fill up a huge bathtub and let them PLAY!

Valentine's Day

I woke up to a dozen pink roses, a big bag of Reese's and my all time favorite, oreos! Oreos are my favorite and I never buy them. Just dont want them in the house b/c I will eat them all the time. But, I couldn't tell you how happy I was to see Adam had bought me some. I have eaten them every night with milk and I do NOT feeling guilty about it. Adalyn woke up to balloons, candy, books, etc. We explained to her that today was Valentine's Day. She was in such a good mood and was acting silly. She would go back and forth between Adam and I saying " Happy Valenvine day! " She couldn't say Valentine just right which is what made it so cute. Adam took off from school that day b/c he had to serve as a pallbearer at a funeral that morning. We got ourselves and the kids ready and left the house by 9:15. I was a little nervous as to how the kids would act during a funeral. Thankfully, my mom, Nancy, and Patsy were there to help if needed. I pumped Landon a bottle and gave it to him right before it started. Adalyn sat between my mom and Nancy and I held Landon. I bounced him on my knee a little until he fell asleep. Adalyn, for the most part, was very quiet. At one point she pointed to the balcony and said, "cows up there!" She then shared she needed to potty. I wasnt sure if she was telling the truth or not but Nancy took her anyway. When she came back, she shared to us, (and the old men in the pew behind us) that she "pee pee'd!" After the funeral, mom took the kids back to the house, Adam and I went to the cemetery, then we headed home. I was lucky enough to get a long nap with Adalyn that day. (Thanks Adam!) It was so nice to have him home all day. We cooked chicken nuggets and french fries (how romantic, right? Things you do when you have a toddler!) that night. I made the kids Valentine shirts to wear for the day. They looked so cute!

Big girl panties

Adalyn used the potty 7 times yesterday. All last week when she didnt use the potty she would come to me whinning telling me she was wet and was asking me to change her. My eyes got as big as saucers and I said to myself, "OOOOK. something's gotta change!" for her to be able to tell me that just tells me she is definitely ready (or almost) ready to be OUT of diapers. Which would be great to only have 1 baby in diapers. So, with lots of advice, I am just letting her wear panties today. She has already peed through 1 pair but the second time she told me she needed to go. the 3rd time however she pooped a little. haha. ugh. So, we are on our 3rd pair this morning and its 8:30! Practice makes perfect though, right? =) I have all day to help her with it, except when Im feeding Landon. Im stuck on the couch until he is finished and at times she will take off her own diaper (after she peed) and tell me she needs to go. A little late Adalyn! So since I can't get up to put a new diaper on her, she just has to go commando until I can get up and change her. So during the whole time Im feeding Landon im just praying she doesnt pee on my new carpet.

On our way home from church yesterday Landon cried himself to sleep in the car. He was SO tired that the crying only lasted a few minutes until her tuckered out. He slept from 12:30 until 3:15 yesterday afternoon. Adalyn took a 2 hour nap, and I napped for an hour while Adam had to go to a program at school. It was a relaxing afternoon! We made a pizza and then headed back to church that night.

I don't have any recent pictures to upload but here is one from the other night. Just like any guy, fill up their bellies and they pass out!

My BIG boy

Landon will be 5 months old next Thursday and yesterday I dressed him in a 6-12 month outfit! I couldn't believe how well it fit him. His closet is packed full of clothes, but since he is growing like a weed, all of his clothing is obviously sized for the seasons, it looks like he will be wearing a lot of short sleeves in the month of March and April. Since he is wearing 6 months now and some larger, all of his 9 month clothes are summer clothes! Thank goodness all of the local consignment shops will be opening in March! Shopping spree for my kiddos. I think I enjoy buying them clothes more than I do myself. Landon is changing everyday and has such an amazing personality. He is a very content little thing. Very laid back which is exactly what I prayed for when I found out I was having a boy. That he would be just like Adam. Easy going and laid back. He sleeps like a champ now. Bedtime is around 9:30-10:00 and I feed him around 6:00-6:30. Our routine everyday is the same so he is on a great schedule too. That always helps me out since I have Adalyn to play with, too! We boxed up his swing last weekend. He hadn't been in it for about 2 months so I was more than ready to get it out of the way! He is loves to eat. Still every 3 hours during the day and now for supper he is eating solids. This week has been sweet potatoes. We will do Avocado next week. We had his 4 month pictures taken last Sunday. They turned out amazing. I am so happy with them!

Here are a few of Adalyn's 4 month session. They still look so much alike to me!
