New Discovery...

As the title says, we discovered something that Adalyn is deathly afraid of... the vaccuum cleaner! Which strikes me as odd considering all the cleaning I do. Espically when I was pregnant with her. I vaccuumed all the time. Even from the time we brought her home, I have always vaccuumed in front of her and she would usually just sit and stare at that weird machine that was making noise. Well, last Saturday night I jumped in the shower and Adam put Adalyn in her excersaucer so he could vaccuum. That's right, so HE could vaccuum! I tell ya, I got a good one! =) Anywho, a few minutes of me being in the shower, he comes in with Adalyn and asks if I heard her scream. He then proceded to tell me that as soon as he turned the vaccuum on, she started screaming at the top of her lungs! When I was done with my shower, I walked into the living room to find Adam holding Adalyn and she had a terrifed look on her face! I started laughing just because she looked so adorable scared. lol. She kept looking at the vaccuum cleaner and whinning. I decided to turn it on just to see what her reaction would be. She immediately started to "climb" up Adam and she began to cry. again, I laughed just because she is so darn cute. Needless to say, Adam took her on a stroll so I could finish vaccuuming. I thought for sure Adalyn would be like her Momma and LOVE to clean but it doesn't look like it!

Another "first" happened last weekend. We went to Granna and Granddaddy's and dipped Adalyn in the pool! She was SO cute in her little bathing suit and she didn't seem to mind the water at all. Check her out!

All that swimming will wipe a girl out...

Adalyn also had her 6 month check up this past Monday. She weighed in at 17 lbs 14.5 oz (80th%) and was 27 1/2 inches. (97th%) What a big girl! Oh yeah, her head was in the 90th% as well. Definitely taking after her daddy! She also got the mean shots. But thankfully, she does great with them. So far she has never had a reaction or fever because of them. She cries for a few seconds, then stops and starts smiling at us. This time when she started crying, her face turned beat red and we had to blow in her face to breathe! It it torture watching your sweet baby cry like that! But like I said, it lasts for a few seconds and then shes over it.

Reading, or should I say eating a book while waiting on Dr. Eastham

The book got old so she moved on to the paper.

After her doctor's appointment, we made a pit stop into Hobby Lobby (my favorite!) then we headed on to Franklin to watch Autumn play ball!

Adalyn is SO close to crawling! She gets on all 4's, sways back and forth, and then tries to pull herself forward. She then typically goes back to her tummy and attempts to scoot that way. She definitely is moving, but its usually backwards. ha. She is also wanting to pull up. Whatever she is sitting next to, she will do her very best to grab the couch, coffee table, Bumbo, or me and Adam, and tries to pull up. These past few days she is getting closer and closer. Its so cute to watch her work SO hard. We are also practicing walking with her. As soon as we hold her hands and walk, she starts giggling. She must think shes big stuff or something! With all that being said, that's just proof my little Adalyn is getting BIG!

I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend. We will be at the lake all weekend with family!

This picture has no relation to what I have been writing, but it is solely for the pure cuteness factor (for me atleast since I'm a little biased)

Check out those baby blue eyes and that hair bow!

6 Months Old

I'm a little late in blogging about our baby turning 6 months old (which occured Thursday, May 13)! So here is a letter to my Adalyn.

Adalyn,

My precious baby, you are now 6 months old! Please tell me why time goes by so fast?! It is so hard for me to remember you as a delicate and fragile newborn. I now can "throw" you on my hip and off we go. You have changed so much within these past 6 months. Your daddy and I often talk about the "newborn" stage quite a bit and laugh! Oh how nervous we were drving home from the hospital. We didn't say a word because you were sleeping and we didn't want to wake you because we were scared you would strat crying and we had an hour drive home and we probably would not have known what to do! ha. I also remember being mad at cars as they sped past us! I remember thinking, "SLOW DOWN!! We have a newborn in here!" Like they knew we had a tiny precious baby in our back seat. Adam probably drove about 65 or 70 the whole way home. and from the swaddling to get you to go back to sleep. We wrapped you so tight. We called you our little burrito. We still believe that worked for you. It may not for all babies, but for you, it did. We even slept with our closet light on for a few weeks since you were in the pack n play by our bed. The sleepless nights we encountered. Looking back, those were precious times to me. It may not felt so precious at the time, but it was. Since I was the only one that could feed you, your daddy was nice enough to get up with us to help us both figure out the nursing process. After a few days, we were good to go! I remember sitting you in your Bumbo seat for the 1st time. We had to roll a blanket up and put behind you because you looked like an old lady all humped over. Now when I put you in your Bumbo, you can almost get out of it by yourself! And the dreaded Tummy Time. You absoulutely hated being on your tummy for some reason! This made momma nervous because I knew how beneficial tummy time was for you. Thinking back, I may have started Tummy Time too early? Is that such a thing? Anyway, you couldn't even lift your head up then and your face would be buried on the floor and that would make you mad so you would cry. I finally figured I would prop you up on your Boppy pillow and you liked it much better. =) Then you started rolling over but you did it whenever you wanted to. You would roll over one night, then not do it agian for a few days. Now when we put you on your back to change your diaper or your clothes, you immediately roll to your tummy and try to crawl away. (You will be crawling soon by the way). I am definitely getting my daily workout when I change you. You are attempting to crawl, or should I say, "creep". It is so cute watching you work so hard! I say within a few weeks we will be chasing you around the house! So as you can see, you have accomplished a lot within the past 6 months. I cannot remember my life before I had you. I feel like I have had you to myself forever, and its only been 6 months. Well, if you want to count the 9 months you were in my belly, I have had you for quite some time! Oh, and by the way, I liked being pregnant with you and knowing I was the only one that could "hold" you during those 9 long months. Selfish, maybe, but I secretly liked the fact that I had you all to my self. =) I Love You Adalyn May Clark. You daddy lookin thing you!

a little bit of everything...

Looks like I'm slacking in the blog department! It's been a few days so here I go! As I mentioned in my last blog, we make Adalyn's baby food. We are enjoying it so much! She is now eating Sweet Potatoes, Avocados, Butternut Squash, bananas and of course, cereal. We are going to do pears next.

You cook, puree, and freeze in ice cube trays. It's so simple and we love knowing exactly what she is eating!

Adalyn also go to go to her Aunt Hopie graduate! Well, not exactly graduation, but her pinning from Nursing School. We are so proud of her! There was no way we could have set through 2 hours of graduation with a 5 1/2, almost 6 month old baby! haha. Its a work out as it is at home making sure she has plenty to do and toys to play with, I couldnt imagine having her sit in our laps for a long period of time without being able to sit on the floor and roll around!

Little one also experienced her 1st ever piggy back ride. Courtsey of daddy.

now come on, how adorable is that?!

Her 2nd tooth is officially in! and it is wayyy cute. She has done great with teething; So far anyway. I just love her new little teeth. However, when she bites on momma and daddy's finger, a little bit of pain occurs with every bite. As i mentioned in my last post, I am still trying to take a picture of those darn things.I am not the one who goes down without a fight, so I am constantly attempting to snap the perfect picture so I can show everyone what I have been boasting about! =) Here is the closest picture I have of her grill...

Ah, I also experienced my very 1st Mother's Day. Ok wait, let me back up. I got to experience it last year, only with Adalyn in my belly. But little did I know that it was Adalyn in there. I could have bet money I was having a boy! Anyway, it was such a beautiful, sweet, rushed day. I woke up to beautiful flowers and a card, then we got ready for church. Adalyn was dressed top notch, of course, and looked b e a u-tiful! I wish my clothes were as cute as hers. After Church, we went back to the house to pick up what we needed to go to my Grandparents. Man, when we have to go somewhere, who would have thought you have to practically pack your whole living room to accomodate your baby? We grabbed a few things for her and then my mom gave me the sweetest card and a willow tree of a mom holding her baby. Love it! Once we got to Hillsboro, Adalyn was ready to eat. So off I went to feed my little one, then it was lunch time!! Oh what a lunch we had! It was delicious and I seriously ate way too much. Here are some pictures...

After we spent most of the afternoon in Hillsboro, we headed to good ol' Cracker Barrell to meet up with Adam's mom and dad. What a great dinner! It was really packed, but we only had to wait for about 15-20 minutes. Not too bad. Adalyn is at the stage where she will not sit in her car seat if we are at a restuarant. (unless she is asleep) She loves sitting up and looking and jabering at everyone. but, Cracker Barrell did not have a high chair that Adalyn could sit in. She's still too little I reckon. Here she is trying to eat the butter packets and reading the menu.

After we ate, we had to take some pictures. Look how great these are!

So, as my first Mother's Day came to an end, I thanked God for allowing me to be a mother to my precious baby. I hope I am making him proud. =)

Maybe if I would blog more often my posts wouldn't be extremely long! but I have lots to cover. Don't worry, I'm almost done with this one! This is a sure sign adalyn is growing up... usually when we go to Wal-Mart grocery shopping, we have to tote her in her car seat and let her ride in the buggy. Wellll, ladies and gentlemen, she is a BIG girl now! Check her out sitting in the buggy with the biggest smile on her face!

And in closing, since she is so cute when she takes her bath, here are some bath time pictures.

Heroes, Teeth, and Floods

What a week it has been! I first want to start off by saying that I am someone's hero. ME! Can you believe it?! I never have thought of myself as a "hero" or even a role model before, but my precious little cousin thinks of me as her hero. Adalyn and I were invited to her program at school last Wednesday. It was about the United States, the American Flag, and heroes. Towards the end of the program they showed a slideshow of pictures that the 3rd graders brought in on their heroes. Well, to my surprise, there I was, smiling in a picture with Autumn. The other students heroes were either their parents, brother/sister, grandparents, etc. But Autumn chose me. I was so proud and very honored. Thank you Autumn for thinking of me as your Hero!! Im sure as Adalyn grows up, she will think of YOU as her HERO! =) Set a good example as I know you will! Here are some pictures!

Adalyn and I had a great mommy/daughter day together. She was GREAT! She slept the whole way to and from Franklin. ON the way home we made a pit stop in Murfreesboro to pick up her 4 month pictures from the photographer. and I must say, my baby is quite the cutie! We also went to The Children's Shoe Company. Like Adalyn needs shoes, but I saw white sandals and I just had to have them. Im so glad I found that store. They have awesome shoes for babies and children. A little expensive, but well worth it. They also have Robeez, my new favorite shoes for her. Speaking of pit stops, we had to make a pit stop in the back seat of the car in the parking lot at Barnes and Nobles so I could feed my hungry baby. In between getting her milk from the tap, ;), I took some snap shots!

Oh, I almost forgot to post a picture of Adalyn rockin' her first polo...

In my last post I talked about Adalyn's first tooth. Well her second tooth is about to pop through anytime now!! I am so excited. She doesn't really act like they are bothering her too much. We have noticed that when she is in her jumperoo or excersaucer and we leave the room, she doesn't like that too much. ha. I blame that little bit of attitude on teething. She starts grunting for us to come back, and as soon as she sees us, she starts laughing. It's like she is playing a game with us. I am desperatley trying to take a picture of her tooth, however, she will hardly let us see it! Let alone take a picture of it. But, I don't give up easily, I will get a picture of that thing! =) So, this is the only picture she will allow me to get...

Adalyn also got to witness the great flood of TN. How terrible! As we sat nice and dry in our living room cuddling on the couch, we saw people on TV that were stuck in their cars, animals were stranded, and people were practically swimming in their front yards. Please remember to pray for all of the victims!

Oh, this next picture is posted just purely because her outfit is so stinkin' cute.

and this one just because =)

Don't know if I have mentioned this before, but we are making Adalyn's baby food! It has been so much fun learning how to do it. So far she has eaten Sweet potatoes, Avocado, and tonight, we are trying Butternut Squash. All from the Clark Household Kitchen. One reason we like fixing her food is because 1. its better for her! we like knowing what she is eating!! and 2. its cheaper!

Well, I have rattled on, so Im calling it quits. I will post pictures next time of our cooking adventures with the baby food.
So for now...

I can only imagine where these tiny feet will go in their lifetime. My only hope is that they never forget their way home.
