Weekend Getaway!

Friday, February 15 we loaded up and headed to Pigeon Forge! Adam took the day off work to do some things on the farm since we would be gone all weekend. I left work at 11:00 and we were on the road by 12:30. We both were so ready for this mini vacation! We left right before the kids nap time so I made sure I packed their milk, snacks, and we had movies for the car ride. They were set! Landon fell asleep first. After he was asleep for about an hour, Adalyn finally gave up and closed her eyes. She didn't want to miss one second of her movie. Her nap lasted all of 35-40 minutes. Landon woke up and started squealing. I guess he was excited about something. Thankfully, she was in a good mood though. You never know how a 3 year old will act if they don't get their nap out. They continued watching movies and were in good spirits. As we were almost out of Knoxville, we hit traffic. Yuck. There was a car wreck so we had to wait 20 minutes or so before getting past it. At this point, I was more than ready to get out of the car! We all were really. Once we started moving again the rest of the trip went pretty quick. It's so good to see that exit you get off to head towards Pigeon Forge. By this time, Landon was D.O.N.E. Landon has been cutting his canines the week leading up to our trip and the week following our trip. Canines were the worst teeth for Adalyn to cut. I mean horrible! So I knew back in my mind he would be cutting his soon. Before our trip, he ran a fever for 6 days, had a nasty cough and an awful snotty nose. He was crabby and only wanted Adam. Seriously. Which that broke my heart. I thought when babies didn't feel good they want their momma!? Well, this kid didn't. Boooo. Anyway, as we were entering the Pigeon Forge traffic I noticed his fever had spiked again. I was ready to get him out of his seat b/c I felt so bad for him. Thankfully, traffic wasn't too terribly bad and we made it to our cabin pretty quickly! Christopher and Brandy were already there once we arrived. The kids were so so excited to see them, be out of the car and had the freedom to run around! Not long after, my mom, dad, and Casey arrived. We were all starving by this point so we went to Longhorns for supper. Mom stayed back to unpack and relax and she kept Landon as well. I felt bad for putting that poor boy back in his car seat knowing he wasn't feeling well. Dinner was delicious and Adalyn sat as close as she possibly could to Casey during our dinner. She is in love with that boy. While we were gone, momma let Landon play in the huge bath tub that's upstairs. He loved having that whole thing to himself. The rest of the night we hung out and finally went to bed. My uncle, aunt, Autumn and Granddaddy came in once everyone was pretty much asleep. Adalyn slept with my mom and dad and we put Landon in his pack n' play. Saturday morning came and we ate a huge breakfast. The guys went to Bass Pro and a few other stops before ending at the gun range. They brought their guns so they could shoot. Erin stayed at the cabin with Granddaddy and watched Landon while Brandy, Autumn, Adalyn and I went shopping. My mom had left before we were ready and shopped a little as well. Adalyn is so much fun to take places and so so easy. It can somewhat be difficult to take a 1 or 2 year old out and about but trust me, it's so worth getting through that stage to get to this "easy" stage! After we were finished with our shopping trip, we headed back to the cabin. The guys were already back and were downstairs playing pool and watching a movie and Landon was still napping with my mom. Later on, we started getting dinner ready for the night. We were celebrating my dad's and Christopher's birthdays as they are only a week a part. (and obviously a few years! ;) Steak, baked potatoes, salad, rolls, cheesecake, strawberry cake(I think? Why can I not remember for sure?), and cupcakes were on the menu. Oh. my. goodness. Delicious!! We all ate and ate until we were stuffed. It was well worth all the extra calories that were consumed. The rest of the night we hung out and gave the kids and bath in the gigantic bathtub again. They had an absolute ball playing. We gave them a bath in that tub every night. They played in it for at least an hour each time. It wore them out!
Landon was body slammed a few times by his big sister. Oh well. He will be use to the water that way!
Sunday morning came and we had pancakes for breakfast. Adam and I then started to get ready to leave. We shopped all day long. Just me and him. It was wonderful! The kids had a great time with Granna, E, Autumn and Brandy. Sunday night my dad and uncle took Casey back to UT since he had class the next day. We went out to eat at Cracker Barrel that night. Yum. You can never go wrong eating there. The kids were great. We touched and played with just about every toy and breakable item in the lobby. Landon loved looking at the fireplace. Adalyn ate so well. She sat in between Casey and Autumn so she was happy. We don't have to use booster seats anymore for her when we go out. She's big enough to sit in a regular chair and understands the fact that she's not suppose to get in and out of her seat. I'm telling you, she is so easy at this age! It's like she is finally understanding and can process our requests and demands. Most of the time anyway ;) Landon ate pretty good, too. He drank Granna's tea and ate bacon, cheese, chicken, and french fries. When we got back, we played around, watched TV, then put Landon to bed. He was wiped out. The guys went downstairs to watch a movie. There are two bedrooms downstairs, two on the main floor, and two upstairs. Adalyn slept with my parents downstairs so while the guys were watching a movie, I crawled in bed with Adalyn to watch TV with her for a bit. She was not interested in going to sleep and there was no reason to make her. Hey, we were on vacation! Annnd she was in a good mood :) She played "restaurant" and took everyone's order. There is a kitchenette downstairs so she would open the refrigerator and bring us some "food" back to eat. She had a pen and notepad to take our order. Little did I know, she must have gotten in the fridge one too many times because Uncle Christopher told her to close the door. I found her at the top of the stairs almost in tears pouting. I asked her what was wrong and she clearly told me that Uncle Christopher told her to get out of the refrigerator. I laughed to myself because she sounded so sweet. I took her downstairs and put her in Christopher's lap. He had no idea it had hurt her feelings. She had her frowny face on and told him, " I was just trying to feed my family" in the most saddest, but sweetest voice ever. He laughed and told her he was sorry. :) It was so funny. We went back into the bedroom and watched cartoons. Before we knew it, the dreaded Calliou came on. Adam and I can't stand that show. He is so whiny and it just gets on my nerves. Adalyn smiled and put her hands over Adams eyes and said, "It's ok Daddy. Don't look." Hahahaha. I was beyond tired at this point so I went upstairs to bed, Adam went to watch the movie that was playing, and her and my mom watched Calliou until she fell asleep. Monday morning came and Landon woke us up at about 5:45. Which was fine. I was ready to get the car packed and make our trip back home. But, come to find out, the kid was SO moody! He was cranky and was running another low fever thanks to those glorious canines. Anyway, we ignored his moodiness the best we could, packed the car, and headed home. We left around 8:00 which is Landon's morning nap time so we was out like a light not long after we got going. The trip back wasn't too terribly bad. They slept, watched movies, whined, colored, ate snacks, whined, and "read" books. lol. We were all glad to be home! We had a wonderful time with our family. It was so nice to get away for a few days. Now, our next vacation is Panama City Beach! Come on June!

Here are some pictures from our trip!

Autumn and Adalyn. Autumn is the BIGGEST help ever.

Weeee!

Milk time. Everything comes to a complete standstill for Adalyn when she drinks her milk. We have to remind her all the time to take a breath.

Adalyn crawled on Casey's lap and fell fast asleep before we left for dinner.

So glad Granddaddy was able to spend the weekend with us, too. Cancer has just about eaten his whole body up so this picture is worth so much to me.

Now, just a bunch of randomness

This was an extremely long post so thanks for sticking with it and reading about a trip!
