Bananas

Tonight was Landon's 1st night trying bananas! He absolutely loved them. So much so he wouldn't let go of the spoon so he helped me feed himself almost the entire bowl. I bought groceries tonight so I made sure to buy plenty of bananas for him to eat on this week as well as us. We made all of Adalyn's baby food for her, except peas. But everything else, we made. SOO much cheaper and I like knowing where it's coming from! It's so nice when you can walk out to your garden, grab a butternut squash, and cook/puree it for them. So tonight, I smashed up some banana and we video taped Landon taking his first bite.

Rolling Over

Landon has rolled over all day today.(4.5 months) As soon as I lay him on his back, he instantly flips over! I am so excited. The past week or so he has been wanting to so bad and if we gave him a gentle budge, he would flip. But now, it's immediate. Changing his diaper is becoming a little difficult as well. Those feet go right to his mouth and now that he is rolling, I have to keep turning him back over. I know diaper changing will become more difficult once he really starts moving around. It's alllll coming back to me now. I remember thinking I was getting some sort of a work out with Adalyn everytime I had to change her diaper. I am just loving all of these milestones! I love that he is getting older/bigger. He is really just so much fun!

Cereal

Wednesday, January 25, Landon had his first cereal! He is right at 4 1/2 months old, the same age Adalyn was when we introduced cereal to her. He was messy with it, just as I expected, but overall I think he enjoyed it! It was even his first time in his (Adalyn's) highchair. We moved Adalyn into her booster seat so he could take over the highchair. We will give him cereal for the rest of the week and then on Monday introduce bananas.

Monday

Adalyn woke up in the best mood this morning! Adam, myself, and landon were already up before we heard Adalyn mumble over the monitor. We both went in to get her but she was still laying down. I didn't think she even knew we were in there. But all of a sudden, I see her head pop up and she started laughing and said, "you scared me to death!" Once I got her out of her bed, I changed her 10 lb. diaper and then she ran into the living yelling, "brother! brother!" The first thing she asks us about every morning is, "Where is Landon?" She sure does love him. She was so good all day and only have 1 melt down right before nap time. She starts crying and then keeps crying and she doesn't even know why she is crying. It didn't take her 5 minutes to fall asleep. When she woke up, I had just finished feeding landon and was changing his diaper. She looked at me and said, "back to bed now." I guess she was still sleepy. She had a good 2 hour nap and I knew a popcicle would wake her up so we went into the kitchen and ate our popcicles. We made a tent today and played hide and go seek. Which is her all time favorite game but I must say, after playing it around 50 times a day, it is getting quite old. She also spent quite some time jumping on my stomach while I talked to Hope on the phone and then we played airplane. We colored, dusted, cleaned my bathroom, washed and folded laundry, watched cartoons, and played with Landon. She also informed me today that she was as tall as a rainbow. haha. I had no clue where that came from. She says the strangest things sometimes! Adam went and bought groceries after school (thanks babe!) and then we headed to my parents for some chili, corn bread, and cookies. YUM. thanks momma! It was delicious and I am still stuffed. I hate when I do that to myself. One of her favorite things to do there is take a bath. Granna lets her get away with a lot more in the bath tub than I do so I guess that's why she begs for a bath every single time we are over there. I guess that's what grandparents are for. We watched Veggie Tales, played with Singer, played with landon, and played with my old baby dolls. She didn't want to leave but we managed to get her in the car without crying. Which always makes for a better car ride home! I heard we had some bad storms last night. Which is crazy because I honestly didn't know anything was going on. I had to go to landon's room once last night to put the paci in his mouth and as i was walking back through the living room, I heard rain and saw lightening, but I didn't think it was bad. It obviously wasn't b/c I went back to sleep without hearing a sound from the storms.
Playing... I don't think Landon was in the mood to play
Telling me something very important
I do believe he is the cutest little boy I have ever seen!

Cheez-Its

We love Cheez-its in this house. Adalyn thinks they are Cheetos and I don't correct her. This afternoon when she woke up from her nap, we were snacking on some. I had just changed Landon's diaper and she crawled over to him with a hand full of "cheetos" and said, " Landon drink milk, not my cheetos." All I could do was laugh. Adalyn was much more behaved today than Wednesday. Thank goodness. I thought I was going to pull every single hair out of my head on Wednesday and I was SO glad when Adam got home. She was just acting like a 2 year old and whining over anything and everything. I can't stand when she whines, esp. when it's over nothing! Thankfully she napped for 2 hours and woke up in a much better mood. She is having a bit of a problem listening to what I ask her to do. I know, I know, every 2 year old does, but it just seemed like on Wednesday, I just couldn't win! I was so tired all day so I know that just made things worse. Nancy made us a pot roast that day so we ate that and then headed off to church. As soon as we pulled up she said, "My Lynn! My Lynn!" She knows she gets to see her everytime we come to church. It is so refreshing to to go to church in the middle of the week. It helps clear my mind and feel at peace about things. We tried to not swaddle landon for 2 nights... the 1st night was ok, the 2nd night was just plain awful. After alternating times of going into his room every hour, I decided to swaddle him again. Once he figures out how to not make himself mad by whacking his face with his arms, it will be much better. He is close to rolling on his own so I know once he does this consistently, we will have to stop swaddling. Adam says we swaddled Adalyn at this age but I can't remember. I do remember walking into her room one morning and she was sleeping on her stomach and me saying to adam, "well, she knows how to roll over!" So i guess she was still swaddled around this age. No pictures tonight. too tired. Off to bed I go.

4 Months!

Landon is 4 months old today! He has his check up and weighed 17 lbs 1 oz and is 26 3/4 inches long. 95th% for length and 85th% for weight. He had 3 shots and even though Adalyn didn't have a check up today, she got her second dose of the flu vaccine. Poor Adalyn had no idea what was about to happen to her. The nurse walked in with her tray of shots and I asked her to do Adalyn first so I could take her out in the hall afterwards so Landon could get his. The nurse went back out to get her vaccine, and when she came in, Adalyn said, "No, do Landon first!" haha I still don't think she even knew she was about to get a shot. She just overheard me say to do her first. I brought M&M's today so after her shot, I took her out in the hallway and she ate M&M's and talked about her boo boo. She said, " bandaid on boo boo under my pants". We brought a bottle for Landon b/c I knew that would calm him down after his shots. Just like any guy, give them food and they hush. Anyway, after his appointment, we headed straight to Pelham to have pizza at Jerry and Nancy's. Then we went to Tori's basketball game. It was 8th grade night and we really enjoyed watching her! So much so Landon fell asleep. Adalyn was so good. She clapped, ate 2 bags of popcorn, played with a little girl, and told me she needed to go potty and she did. =) After the game, the car ride home was not so pleasant. She was beyond tired and she really didn't want to leave Memaw and PaPaw so she cried pretty much the entire 25 minutes home. Ahhh. Now, I am wore out! I took lots of pictures of our busy day, but I am too lazy to upload them at the moment so this one is from my phone. My 2 favorite boys!

We are going to attempt to lay Landon down UNswaddled tonight. Pray it goes well!

Adalyn feeds her baby

I have been waiting on this day since Landon was born. People kept telling me not to be surprised when you see Adalyn try to nurse her baby doll. Well, it took almost 4 months but today, she finally "fed" her baby! hahaha. This whole time she always grabed her baby bottle to feed her dolls but today was different. She was sitting in her little chair in the living room and said "Baby hungry. feed her." She lifted up her shirt, got her baby, fed her then said, "all done" and burped her. All I could do was laugh. It's so sweet how innocent children are. Other than Adalyn nursing her baby, today was just like any other day. We play, play, and play some more, then it's finally nap time. Landon takes 2 naps before lunch, and then at 1:00 is when I put them both down for a nap. This nap is his longest of the day. It's around 1.5-2 hours. I try to find somewhere to lay down during that time, too. Today was different though. I layed Adalyn down in my bed, Landon was on the couch, and I was in the recliner and curled up with my blanket and wachted 2 episodes of Teen Mom. I never watch it when it comes on Tuesday nights so my house was nice and quiet for 2 hours today! ahhh. Adalyn has really been acting like a true 2 year old lately. Oh me- we have a long year in front of us! Although, people tell me that turning 3 is worse. Lately, anytime she starts whining, i tell her to stop whining that I don't want to hear it and she says, " I'm sleepy now". the reason she says that is b/c when Landon starts whining, I always say, "he's getting sleepy" Which is true for him. So she must think since it's ok for him to whine b/c he is sleepy, then it's ok for her to whine if she says shes sleepy. She also doesn't like when I sit on Adam's lap or jump in his arms... she immediately falls to the ground and says in the most annoying voice, "my daddy! my daddy!" hahahaha. It is actually pretty funny. One day she was whining about something and Adam and I just ignored her. She kept running and falling to her knees and would whine some more. I had to turn my head so she wouldn't see me laugh. She is something else!

Landon rolled over last night. Well, he pushed off my hands and he flipped over so technically not all by himself just yet but soon! He is just the cutest thing. He is so lovable. He is really trying to "talk" to us. He has the loudest squeals when he gets so excited. This weeked we are having our big Christmas with all of the Clark's. It's always a fun weekend with A LOT of food. That's my kind of weekend. ;)

Update on our BIG boy!

Landon will be 4 months old next week and I must admit, I am glad he is getting a little older! He is really so much fun!! He is just the chunkiest little boy and I could just eat him up. He has been in size 3 diapers for 3 weeks now! He has outgrown most of his 3-6 month clothing and I have dressed him in a couple of 6 month outfits. We he turned 3 months, Adam weighed him on our scale and he weighed 16 lbs 2 oz-- I looked in Adalyn's baby book and when she was 5 months old, she weighed 16 lbs 6 oz.

You can somewhat see his little fat rolls in some of these pictures. I just love chubby babies! Aside from his fat rolls, he really is just a laid back baby! Exactly what I wanted.( and needed! Adalyn is full speed from the time she wakes up until she goes to bed!) He eats every 3 hours during the day and his last feeding is around 8:45-9:00 at night. He has been sleeping in his room for well over a month now but still doesn't quite sleep thru the night. Well,he kind of does, but we don't. He still needs to be swaddled to sleep so when he does wake up in the middle of the night, I'll go in there to check on him and his stinkin arm has managed to wiggle its way out of the swaddle. I will be so glad when he grows out of the swaddling stage though. I want him to sleep on his belly but he just ain't having it. Adalyn has always been a belly sleeper and I think they just sleep so much better! Looks like we will have to wait until he can roll over so he can decide the way he wants to sleep. He outgrew the velcro swaddle blankets pretty quick as a newborn so we had these big ones from Target (that were so dang expensive, too!) that seemed to be working for him. Except at 3:00 in the morning when an arm was flying around in his crib. So I had been thinking he needs a velcro blanket again. Instead of ordering him one, I remember we had a large size for Adalyn that we never used. So I marched myself up to our attic and dug through a huge box full of blankets. I found it. AND it's PINK. So yes, our boy, always dressed in some form of blue BOY, has been sleeping in his sisters pink blanket. I have yet to take a picture of him in it for some reason. I need to though so it can be shown at his wedding one day. =) But yes, I do plan to get him a different one. No need to worry. He is so close in turning over! It's fun watch him try. Ill walk into the room and he is completely on his side but he just can't figure out how to roll over his shoulder. He is enjoying his Bumbo seat. I have been making him try to sit up on his own. It's so funny b/c when he does, his belly is basically touching his feet he is leaned over so far. haha.

Sick

We were gone most of the day Saturday and by the time we got home that night, Adalyn had fallen asleep in her carseat so I carried her in, changed her into her pajamas, and layed her in her bed. About 30 minutes later, she woke up crying. I went in to check on her and I seriously thought I could have thrown up. She was sitting up in bed and the sounds she was making sounded like she could barely breathe. Scared me to death. I picked her up and held her and could immediately tell she was sick. She started to cough and it sounded like a seal was barking. I was thinking I had read that somewhere before so we googled it and I talked to hope and carla (2 of the best nurses I know!) about it and we decided she had the croup. She slept with us that night and ohhhh me, I always dread her sleeping with us! lol she is a wild woman when she sleeps but I knew she needed to be with me so I could keep an eye on her and listen to her breathing. We kept her home from church Sunday so we played and layed around. Around 4 my parents came over to watch the kids and Adam and I got some clothes for Landon, went to Sonic, then to church to watch Courageous. I do believe that is one of the most powerful movies we have seen. Simply amazing. It was nice for Adam and I to get out without the kids. I honestly can't remember when we did that last. Adalyn woke up around 1:30 last night so again, she ended up in bed with us... ehhh. So that was night 2 of no sleep! This morning she woke up with a low fever. She just looks so pitiful. All I want to do is love on her and baby her but it's a lot harder to do that now than it was before since I have a 3 1/2 month old who wants my attention, too! So after breakfast this morning, we headed over to spend the day with my mom. I managed to squeeze in an hour nap and Adalyn napped for almost 2 hours. After school Adam came and picked up the kids and I headed to Wal-Mart to buy groceries. Came home, cooked a pizza, gave Adalyn a bath, and now both kids are sleeping! I sure hope she gets to feeling better soon. I want my Adalyn back!

Even though she doesn't feel good, she managed to give me a silly face in the bathtub tonight

"hobby bobby"

Adalyn is coming up with something new to say each day it seems like. We have a cabinet in our kitchen that she always opens the door to and says, "Mission Completion!" We kept thinking she was trying to say Mission Accomplished, but as she was watching the annoying Little Einstiens the other day, I figured out what she was saying b/c they say it. All I can do is laugh. I honestly never know what will come out of her mouth, which can be nerve wracking at times. She stuck her hand out to me the other day and said, "Glad to meet you" I about peed my pants I was laughing so hard. Yesterday just about topped it off though. I was feeding Landon in my room and she walks in and looks at me. She was playing with an old necklace of mine and she stops and says, "Hobby bobby gave it to me!" hahaha. Oh my goodness. She has been in there with me a couple of times but all I know is I hope she continues to like the place. I absolutely hated going in there with my mom when I was younger so maybe it's a good thing she is already talking about it. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good attitude the next time we go. Her favorite song at the moment is "Jesus Loves Me" She sings it all the time and I was able to get her on video the other night while she was in the bathtub. Normally when I pull the video camera out, she stops whatever she was doing which is annoying. We have gotten a taste of the so called terrible two's lately, she has her moments but after we talk to her about her actions, etc, she looks at us and says, "Jesus is happy!" lol. We always tell her that when she acts ugly, mommy, daddy, and Jesus are not happy with her and it really bothers her. She has such a tender heart!
